In an effort to increase gas milage I'm thinking of going for a smaller tire, just as tall of course but not as wide. Cornering performance is the least of my concern but anything that would decrease rolling resistance should help, especially in snow. Any Ideas?

That would do it. I prefer the 225 wide tires I have on right now because I can corner the piss out of them.... But yeah it would help reduce rolling resistance if you went to a less wider tire. Plus remember that in the winter it is recommend to have a skinnier tire anyway.

I don't know if it's a good idea.

The car might not feel too good on a narrowor tread

People are different right Redog. I feel better on a wider tire. Mind you I had a 195/70/14 on my Cavalier and was scared to take corners. I like the Alero for that fact alone better.

the ride will be nicer and smoother on a wider tire, the skinnier tire will ride not as good.

I doubt you'll notice any significant difference in fuel economy, provided you are running the correct tire pressure.

little to no gain in fuel saving
Lots of potential in the crashanddiecusimamoronandmessedwithmytiresize dept
