i voted hydros because i dont like waiting on a tank to fill up, but i like both hydros and air. dont like lowering springs or coilovers at all.

Springtechs and stock struts ( I know, I know, I'm just taking my time looking for a good deal ) Speedbuilt STB's front and rear, and looking forward to buying a beefier rear sway replacement.

why replace em if they dont need replacing? unless you're going for performance. most have no clue what a blown strut is, i put like 90,000 miles on my stocks.

anyways. ive got custom coilover made by yours truly. they suck, lol, budget coilovers, who cares since i dont drive it ever right? i'll switch over to air one of these days

:o Where did you get the poly bushings, and do all '99 GA's have aluminum control arms? And did you notice an immediate difference with them?

Maybe I'm just stupid, but I'm having a hard time swallowing this one. To my knowledge, all 99-2005 N-bodies used steel front lower control arms with aluminum steering knuckles. There are no upper control arms because of the MacPherson strut. Rear suspension consists of (per side) 2 stamped steel lateral arms, a stamped steel trailering arm, and another strut.

BTW, rockin' Eibachs and Koni's here, along with PFYC/Next Level anti-roll bars.

RK Sport doesn't make coilovers for our cars. But Mantapart does if you have $1500 laying around.

Nope, had my mechanic do it. A lift and air tools make all the differnece when you have to drop the entire front subframe.

Still no reply on the aluminum lower control arms? I'll just assume he didnt know what he was saying..

jeremythebear
06-02-2005, 06:59 PM
Sorry, I missed this one
Yes I do know what I am saying. Broke the crappy OEM arms - 99 Grand Ams are the only ones that came with aluminum arms. Have not broken these. BTW Koni front struts are in and am waiting for the SHO rears. What a big difference.
And Final, the poly bushings stiffened up the front end somewhat but the alu arm did the most - Unfortunately bushings came b4 arms broke so it was labour twice but if you want bushings then try and find the arms at the same time.
Sometimes I miss postings but this site gives me so much info that if someone ever wants my opinion (not always a good thing) please PM me in case I ever miss a thread.
I am on the up and up and drive as a courier with the modded alero with now 170,000 km on it so if someone wants a longevity report please ask.
Also mfuller, no spitting but it is true and does make a huge difference and thanks to you I went the Koni way. My first born is now being UPS'd to you.

Where did the few of you get your koni struts? What would you guys recommend between KYB and Koni? I have been riding on eibach's for prob. close to 2 yrs. now and I should probably get around to changing the struts.
