View Full Version : Pop Or Click On Turn, Also Clacking On Reverse

I replaced both front hubs over the past year or two. After replacing the front passenger side a few months ago, I started noticing a popping when I turn sharply. It might be related to a clacking nasty sound I get from the front end when reversing. I thought the reversing noise might have been a caliper sticking or pad hanging up on the rotor, but now I think its part of the turning problem. As far as I can tell I don't think its a CV joint, the popping isn't as regular as when a CV goes bad. Could it be a ball joint, tie rod, or something completely off my radar? Any ideas? Its getting worse by the day.

You're post already shot my theory to hell...my 1st thought was "CV Joint" If it's truly getting worse by the day, you're better safe than sorry, and have someone look @ it. No need to take any chances, yknow?

i havn't replaced my hubs, so i dont know what all is needed to do it (doing my left one next week) but what it sounds like to me is your strut bearings/mounts. i had mine go out and the top one made groves into the bottom one because when they didn't re-seat correctly when i dissassembled the suspension. mine made popping or clicking noises on turns. it was worse when it rained for some reason. and i think when it was cold it wasn't as noiticable, or maybe it was more noticible, it was 1 of the 2

Yeah thats it. I checked it out and thought it was tie rods. Then I took it to Monro for a free inspection, and they said it was the struts and mounts. I guess I'll just replace the whole setup in there. Were there any hangups or difficulties when you replaced yours?

ya, was jus gonna say the mounts are bad. struts should be aight depending on mileage. monro'll try to get all the money they can outta ya. the mounts sometimes get out of whack a bit and end up not seating right and will wear the poop out of em to the point where it wont turn and it'll cause the spring to "pop" as pressure increases

it's pretty easy if ya kno what you're doin. if you don't, just have monro do it. Putting stock suspensions are a bitch compared to installing lower springs mainly because you HAVE to use a spring compressor, and ya really have to use it quite a bit. monro and places like that have a wall mount one that kicks total ass and it makes it real easy for em. not much else to say cept to check out the "change springs" how to here since that's basically what you'll be doin only i'm guessin you're gonna put your stock springs back on

Hey man, good thing I read this because mine pop/clicks, only when I turn left, so I guess I should tell my mechanic to check the struts/ mounts?
