I'll be competing tomorrow afternoon & evening in a special eliminator during the NoT. The top points racers from each class will be running in their own class bracket races in between the show cars in order to minimize down-time.

Gates open at 3pm and time trials for my class (Street ET) will be at 4pm. Hopefully we'll get 2 time shots as first round is at 6pm, with the show classes beginning at 7pm.

I got confused.

This is what I think of when I think of the Dodge Daytona, but yeah I guess it is.

^That's what, a '90 or '91? I have a '93 ES - the last year they were built before the line was replaced by the even more disappointing Avengers.

And thanks, all, for the well wishes.

Got some good news and some bad news:

First the good...
- I got to see the Show for free, whereas normal spectators paid $25 a piece for tix.
- West Coast Chopper guys were there with several bikes - NYFD, POW, Lance Armstrong, and 3 others. Some of them haven't been shown on their show yet so they were total surprises. Sweet bikes! (And, no, I don't have pics. Almost brought my camera but decided against it since I didn't want it to get too hot in the car.)
- I was paired against Jose Colon, this year's suprise points leader and the guy I somehow managed to lose to 2 races in a row this year, and beat him handily this time. I treed the crap out of him with a .023 light vs. his .1xx and he broke out trying to catch me at top end.

Now the bad news...
- The heat and high humidity reeked havoc with everyone's ET's and the starting line was crap for the first hour or so until fresh rubber finally accumulated.
- 2nd round (there were only 8 racers per class so there were only 3 rounds of eliminations per class) had me paired up with Sean Riccardi, against whom I've had mixed results and who beat me on the final points day last year to keep me from taking the last spot on the Bracket Finals team. I treed him, too, (.06 vs .124) but my car hadn't fully cooled down from the previous run and the car ran off my dial yet his ran dead on. It didn't help matters when I stayed on the convertor for an extended period of time (which warmed my trans up too much) while I waited for him to stage deep as I had already staged in deep myself. He beat me by 0.0051 seconds (or 51/10,000ths of a second)!

Sean went on to pull a perfect light (.000) in the Final round when he accidentally deep staged too deep yet that helped him as his lights hadn't been great to begin with. And he went on to win as his opponent broke out trying to pass him at the finish line. Obviously it was meant to be Sean's night and not mine.
