I was thinking, if i took apart the tail lights and scuffed up the outter piece with sandpaper i can give it that "frosted glass" look. pop in some nice LED's for each bulb and walla. New tails. Any input?

Make sure you do a damn good job scuffing it up.. make sure you go from rough to a nice fine sandpaper gradually (this will provide uniformity). It should look pretty cool if you do it right :thumb: Can't wait to see how it tirns out!

Hey wait Cro, I looked at that other guy's headlight thread and I think a better idea would be to use paint to frost them. You could use some of that frosting paint for windows :thumb: WAY easier than trying to sand them! Good Luck!

were you hoping to scuff away the red colour from the plastic to make it clear, is that what the goal is here?

no, just to make the red and yellow part not see through.

i know it does not fit to the topic question, but i played a lil bit w/ paintshop to see what i can change of the car's looks. maybe its interesting, too - and the first modification will not be too difficult.

^ Yeah, there's a few people who've shaved the tail lights like that, I think it looks good.

Crolero, it will look good if you sand plus you won't have to ever worry about it chipping, bubbling or anything like that. Just make sure you look over it really good with light shining thru it before you put it all back together.

the only thing about shaving the inner taillights is it make the back look like a honda.

I thought it looks more like a neon...but either way, it's a matter of taste, and it's definitely not my taste...
back on topic: frosting.

IMO, it would only work on certain color cars, mainly lighter colors, like the light silver, white, and maybe pastels....I know there's a blue one out there...lol ;)

its entirely up to you...i personally wouldnt be a fan of it, i think it would make it look like its an old scuffed up taillight. also it is extremely difficult to get the red lens off in 1 piece w/o breaking it.

Those shaved tail-light's look gay. I like the way our stock taillights look, just the way they are.

^yes!! if i wanted an ugly neon, i'd buy one. The tails on our cars are wicked and unique, why ruin them? Theyre my fave part of the car!

just my experience with LED's...they look awesome at night...but...they look terrible in the daytime(all you see is a dot) when the person behind you is lookin at the huge tailight

i know a couple times when we went down to scotts, me and alero168 had em, and both of said they are hard to see...i almost ran into the back of his car....i did try to modify them, by soldering on 3 leds facing the other direction, but it didnt work much better...if there was a way to mirror the lights to shine back towards the chrome inside it would work

lol, when i hear i can brake something ill stop with it. Cant afford to wait 4 to 6 weeks on a tail light from the states. :)

Clearing my corners took a whole day so i dont break anything.

I was thinking about scuffing the outside but it would loose its smoothness. O well, maybe when im bored one day

I ended up using spray tint on my lights this weekend...did 3 coats and they turned out niiiiiiice...it darkened them quite a bit, and then at night with the lights on it gives it a nice red wine kind of glow...had many friends give me compliments on them.
