I ordered 2 sets of cathodes from oznium today (thanks phil!). I got 1 4" dual white for the front footwells and 1 12" dual white for the trunk.

I've got some color gels from stage lighting that match the interior lighting pretty closely so I am going to wrap the white interior cathodes with the gel. I don't want them very bright so I only got 1 set and I am going to mount them behind the cubby where they will throw light to both footwells.

Then I am going to replace my dinky stock trunk light with the other set of cathodes. I was looking partly for looks but more functionality, so I went with white so I can see my poop in there at night.

Pics will be posted.

I'm assuming no one is as excited as I am, but thats alright :)

I got the cathodes in the mail today, so hopefully I can get them installed tonight or tomorrow.

If anyone wants to recomend a good hidden place to put the rocker switch I would appreciate it.

Also, the thing I need to know the most. On the cubby light which wire is positive and which is negative?

i think the gray is positive. i mnight be wrong. take a multimeter to it and find out.

and you might be able to hide the rocker into the little "change" hole under the dimmer on the left side of the steering wheel.

or maybe drill a little hole on the underside of the plastic under the steering wheel. (like, above where your knees are)

throw the rocker in those spots if you don't want it noticed.

if you start getting crazy w/ stuff, i'd suggest making a switch plate and mounting it somewhere... but thats me.

oh, and WOO WHOO you got cathodes! :thumb: i'll be excited for you.

Thanks cherrington, I'm glad you're excited too.

I got the trunk light all hooked up now but the lights in my footwells must have been hooked up wrong since they blew 2 fuses.

Ive got them disconnected right now but I am going to try and hook them up again tomorrow and then post pics of it all.

How exactly did you wire and mount the cathodes to the footwells and the trunk? I've been thinking about doing the same thing although not sure exactly what the best approach is.

When I take pics I'll take some of how they are mounted, but for now I'll just explain.

First off, the velcro adhesive that came with the lights blows. It kept comming unstuck. So do yourself a favor and buy some 3m double sided tape (which seems to be working well).

In the trunk I mounted them on the underside of the deck, between those metal bars that run across the trunk and the opening to the trunk. (right by the things to put the seats down). They are hidden by this ridge that drops down, so you can't see them standing outside of the trunk.

Inside, the drivers side is mounted in the area between the gas and brake. The passenger side is mounted below the glove box, also tucked away (but this one may have to be relocated).

i used zipties. not too tight so, if you hit a bump it cracks the cathode, but tight enough to hold in place.

my main reason is we get alot of hot, then cold weather around here and double-sided tape works like ass.

personally, the trunk one seems decent, but the footwell ones i stood up vertically behind the center console. just inside the plastic on each side there is a small hole that they can slide the top few inches into and they hold fine. (for the 12" not the 4" that jiffy has)

hmm, I'm going to have to keep an eye on the double sided tape as the weather changes and see how well it holds up.

I am thinking that the driver side could easily be zipped up in almost the same location it is in right now. The passenger side one I'm not so sure about. Infact, I actually think my passenger side one may be in the way of the glove box opening and closing.

The trunk one could get zipped to those bars, hopefully out of sight.

i have a set of 2 12" cathodes in my trunk, they work damn well compared to the stock lighting

I think the red/orange color is pos. and black/grey is negative.

Ive got my rocker switch in the cubby hole, and the top where it slopes inwards. Ive got another rocker in the cubby light hole, it fit perfectly.
