I have the same issue. My insurance ded is $250. I have to look around for a place that'll knock the ded or replace it cheaper. Yeah you'll just havet o look around at different places and find the right price. Make sure it's an OEM windshield and not an aftermarket one. They don't fit right.

EDIT: This was pretty easy, we just did one on a 99 alero yesterday. Parts, labor, and installation came out to be $421.99 exactly. I'm not sure if that is high or what but that sounds about right. I hope that gives you an idea anyway

Wow, $400 is HIGH. I just priced out three places today on my lunch.

1st: $265 with moldings and labor
2nd: $199 " " " "
3rd: $234 " " " "

If you go through insurance you might be able to get it done cheaper. I have a $250 ded and the cheapest so far was $100 off the ded and that leaves me with $150 for the windshield.

anyone ever have one of those guys that come out to your house and do it?

alero440

Britt had one do that for his 240, the guy went to his work and did it. He did an awesome job too. If you're from the Metro Detroit area, I recommend Elite Auto Glass.

I'm not sure, Britt has 0 ded for windshield so it was free for him. I'd call and ask places.

I just had my windshield replaced before A.S.S, and only cost me 175.00 and I didn't go through my insurance. And that price is in U.S currency

I just had it quoted at ABRA Auto Body & Glass and they said $240 with moulding and labor.

yea those it doesn't cost 400 bucks for a windshield. At the most 150-200.

My bro's alero before we had a friend phone in cuz he works at the dealer for us to some glass place. an OEM replacement with molding for $150 bucks.

Here in dallas they have a place that has a windshield over stock sale. Most vehicles are $125 bucks with PPG brand glass w/molding. installed and lifetime warranty.

I deal with a glass company locally who comes to the house to install our windshields. I think anywhere around $250 installed would be accurate.

I've changed my windshield too and was amazed how cheap are your prices. My bill was about $1500 but the most part paid my car insurance and i had to pay 'only' $270. That's Austria. :(

I have $250 deduc. and I paid $150 for one from Glass Technologies in South Lyon. Or I could have paid $150 cash for one from Pat's dad's friend at the other auto glass place. But they wouldn't come out to work for me.

if u go to a dealership they will charge you more money. Look into a privatly owned business.

I have a small crack in my windshield, and it is slowly spreading, but my main concern are all the damn little pits in it, there are so many that it is getting hard to see when cars come from opposite direction at night, I get a weird glare from it, anyways is there a windshield manufacturer that makes windshield that won't get the little sandblast pits in them within the first few years....I dunno if its the salt/sand they use on the roads here or the lower quality crap being put out, but I have a 74 ford that doesn't have this problem and it has 190,000 km on it! Anyways I am gonna replace it, just wanted a few people to input on this issue, not sure if they polish this stuff out or what...I was gonna get a PPG windshield because its a good brandname but I dunno squat about windshields, also I have water drip inside right by the rear left corner of the drivers side visor twice in the 4 yrs I've owned it..is this windshield related, be nice to fix 2 problems in one shot! Thanks for your time.
