Just take off the whole intake and hook up one of those Ionic Breeze air purifiers near the throttle body. Put the IAT sensor in the wheel well.

Ok for the last time.....................there are ONLY 2 CAI for the 2.4
Induction Dynamics
APOC ( not sure if they still make them)
everything else (AEM, Weapon R, ebay, etc) are WAI

it's coming down to the induction dynamics cai, aem short ram, or the intake from alerospeed.com....which would be the best choice???? will be ordering one soon because i've been wanting won forever since i got my exhaust....opinions appreciated. :wtf:

i recommend the induction dynamics because it is CAI and gives it a nice sound and decent performance.

ya i'll probably need some help if i'm going to install it myself. So you do need to take off the whole front bumber in order to install it????
DRA-GON
10-14-2005, 11:22 AM
CAI , jack the left front side up , remove the tire and the wheel well liner just to the front of where the wheel was but inside the front bumper is where the intake filter will go pipe runs up from there just behind the battery I believe and over to the throttle body ( there are pics of this in the how to section I believe.)
Oldsman
10-14-2005, 11:35 AM
you can either remove the bumper or wheelwell liner either way works good.

hey oldsman, i just noticed your awesome engine pics. Very nice. With that 2.3 manifold am i able to still have the induction dynamics intake or do you just have to position it differently?? just wondering, i don't have the 2.3 manifold but it looks very nice. I am interested in upgrading my performance mods so just glad to see that pic of yours. And what will that exactly do for my car and do you need any other mods to install that??? again thanks for all your help. Sorry for asking all these questions....

i am using the ID CAI with the 2.3 manifold. the manifold gives you more hp in the mid to top end. when upgrading to the manifold also go with the 2.3 HO TB which is 56mm. it is a good N/A combo.

from RSM? hell no. my 62mm TB is an RSM one and i got from a j-body guy and only payed $150 for it and after seeing it i would not spend the money for a rsm TB. also the 62mm TB is not the best for N/A.
2.3 manifold is from a j-body guy which came from a junkyard off a 2.3 quad 4 HO. the 56mm TB is also off a 2.3 quad 4 HO. there was a guy on here selling manifold and TB for good price. check out the bazaar.

i sent a pm to him. Hopefully it's still available and I probably could work something out with him. This would be cool to add these before/without a CAI right away right???

anybody ever make a CAI for the 2.4???
Oldsman
12-04-2005, 11:48 PM
only Induction Dynamics and APOC are the only 2.
for a 2.4 with 2.3 manifold and TB then it is a custom setup. but Induction dynamics can be used with some modification.
PrImEtImE
12-05-2005, 09:35 PM
it would just be cool for someone with a 2.4 to get them made because the 3.4V6 has so much more options for CAI and they're cheaper.......

So the AEM short ram intake from APOC (american performance of colorado) is a CAI??? or a WAI?? or where would I get the APOC CAI?? because the AEM short ram intake is only 153.00 and i'd much rather spend that than almost 300.00 for the ID CAI even though it looks awesome....
Oldsman
12-07-2005, 09:51 PM
the AEM is WAI.
APOC made a custom CAI so you would have to contact john and talk to him if he would make one.
PrImEtImE
12-08-2005, 12:54 PM
John is from the "american performance of colorado" site??
Fast Eddie
12-08-2005, 02:48 PM
yeah. I don't know if he still does intakes, they are not on the site any more and he used to have problems getting the 3.4 ones out. I don't think he ever "mass produced" the one for the 2.4. I had to go to CO. to get mine custom made, one off. Doesn't hurt to ask though.

the aem short ram from american performance of colorado should work fine with my 2.3HO TB and Manifold correct?? for now i'll probably just get this intake for now, i've heard it's pretty decent. Or I should I go with the stage 2 from alerospeed.com?? I just want to finally get one now so I can install my new manifold and TB setup..
Oldsman
12-14-2005, 07:16 PM
it will work. but you will need a 90deg bent rubber or silcone end and will have to cut the intake.
basically nothing is a direct fit. whatever you get will need to be modified.
PrImEtImE
12-14-2005, 11:19 PM
thanks oldsman, I talked with silentalero on the phone and he also recommended the ID CAI. And both of you said you were happy with it. So even though I don't really wanna spend almost 300.00 on an intake I'm going to get the ID CAI. This time 100% sure. Since you have the same set up as I'm going to have I probably will need some info on how to make everything work, so if you can just let me know what kind of modifications need to be done when installing the manifold, TB, and ID CAI. I'm going to wait until I recieve the CAI to install. Thanks again.

I've been talking about what I should do as far as an intake the last couple of days. But for now I will probably end up going with the AEM short ram just to save some money for now. So what will I have to do for the intake to fit the 2.3 set up, just a 90 degree tube???? I'm buying the AEM short ram Intake tonight that fits the 2.4 cavy found it for a good price....
Oldsman
12-20-2005, 12:01 AM
far as exactly what you will need............a 90 deg silcone or rubber coupler.
far as the rest you will have to test fit and maybe cut the intake and do other modifications to get it to work.
PrImEtImE
12-20-2005, 12:11 AM
should receive the AEM soon...
