I just put in my own wai using a K&N airfilter. Went really fast and cost about $100. Am waiting for my new exhaust and then getting my chip reflashed to accomodate larger air intake. I will be posting pics tomarrow morning if I am awake by then. Used all stock hardware to mount so wai can be taken out and stock airbox and filter put back in. The airfilter has a 4 in. outlet into a 4 to 3 adapter and into the stock hose that used to be attached to the airbox. It seems to be working fine so far. Hoping the new exhaust and reflash will make a difference. I went with Monza exhaust system. Just laying out a 411 since a lot of people are interested in air intakes.

Sounds simple enough. don't imagin it's much different then the stock air box without the snorkle/tuner tube/ thinger in the fender that attaches to air box.
Just curious were are u getting ur monza exaust/how much u pay.

is it the pacesetter monza exhaust? b/c i've heard really bad things about that over on j-body.org, i can link you to the thread if i can find it
also, if you really do want the monza, i think i can find you a link that has it much cheaper than AAS

here's the link to the exhaust that AAS has only cheaper riiiiiight here....... (http://www.horsepowerfreaks.com/price/Oldsmobile/Alero/performance/Exhaust/Exhaust_Systems)
and links to the bad reviews about the exhaust here, (http://www.j-body.org/forums/read.php?f=2&i=310847&t=310847) cant find the more comprehensive post on the exhaust, but i'll look later.....basically everyone said that it sounds pretty bad, and rusts out in about a year...... if it were me i'd try to get my money back from AAS b/c you could get yourself a custom exhaust set up for much less than what you're paying AAS
this is also really off topic, but atleast it's sticking to cars i guess

:offtopic: Did you run a power cord for a system down your driverside quarter panel and in through the door?

looks like a PVC pipe, but i think maybe that came with the filter...

That's PVC piping from Home Depot ;) I wish for asthetics sake when people make homemade intakes like that they'd make them ALL ONE COLOR. It's not hard to paint PVC black! ;)
Does noone make a good CAI for the 2.2 in a GA/Alero? If not, I might be able to whip one up real quick if anyone's interested ;)

okay looking at the picture, it's so simple it hurts.
Almost need some duct tape hehe
thinking about it though. It looks like it works fairly well
probly better then a stock airbox.
my next question.
wouldent it be easier to just connect a tube from the main plastic piece and put a filter rite off it making it like one of those "Ram air " intakes.
I dunno if that makes any sense, maybe i'll photoshop his picture.
ignore me forgot about that sensor on the intake.... just randomly suggesting things :beerchug:

I've been thinking of doing this also. does it make any difference at all over stock ?

Don't really know how to tell if it did anything over the stock. The car still runs good no really noticeable change in performance. Currently working on a way to connect straight into the engine without the airbox on the engine end either but need to play around a little more with the engine and how it is exactly set up. I could have painted it but was to eager to get it installed.
:offtopic: Does anyone know of any performance tuned ecu or a reproggramer for the eco?

there is no chip or reprogrammer for the eco yet, follow this link (http://invision.aleromod.com/index.php?showtopic=13566) and read the post, basically HP tuners may be strating work on something for the ECO if we get enough votes in, so be sure to vote

My only question is...why in the world would you pay 100 bux to piece together your own intake when you can by the Cosmo racing intake for 80 bux???
