I bought these fog lights for $25CDN/pair @ perfomance improvements. They were on sale regular price $140CDN :glare:  They are the APC 7series led... they have a LED ring around the bulb housing that can change 7 colours  .
What I'd like to know is there are 2 power wires, one for the fog light itself and one for the L.E.D. glow ring thingy around it, i know the main fog light goes powered from the battery directly but should i wire the led part off the ignition power? There is a fuse on the power wire for main fog but not the led part.
Reason I'm asking is a friend has the same ones and he wired his direct to the battery, his led ring thingy never worked properly, always flashing diff. colours, and a few hours after installing they just died. They were cheap so I dont expect them to last long, but more than a couple of hours would be nice.
Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance.

Is the LED ring on a seperate switch?
If so, I'd just wire it to an accessory power source.(thering)

I can't be specific on ampage, but your LED ring doesn't need much power. I'd run it to and accessory and switch it.. Technically you shouldn't be going down the road with it on, so a switch would be a wise idea. Run 22 gauge wire, don't wire directly to the battery. LEDS should have a longer lifetime then what your friends did. If it doesn't come fused, the accessory should have like a 15 or 20. If unsure, run an inline fuse with a 10 or 15.
If you have any more questions just ask. Hope this is helpful

Thats my plan, I'm gonna power the led from my ignition souce...I didn't think I should go direct to the battery, unless it had in fuse inline.
Now the fun part is gettin the wires through the firewall :banghead: I'll try and find where my stereo went through and use the same hole if there is enough room. I hope this is easier then other peoples experience. :hissyfit:

the main power for the foglight does not go to the battery, it goes to a switch otherwise it would be constantly on and your battery would drain, the little LED you can wire up to the ignition wire, or to a seperate switch, or to your headlights so that they turn on when they do........

yeah, they each have their own switch... so going to the battery (just the main fog light not the LED) would be ok?...
never thought of running them (LED) off of my headlights... could i splice in to the original foglight switch aswell?... I was gonna run it (LED) off the ignition power but I think I'll go off the fog light switch... Thanks BigD

i just have the stock fogs right now...
I know I hate more than one set on a car too i dont want these to be visable but still be useful so i'm gonna try and hide these behind those two holes in the AAS front bumper...
if i can't hide them the are not going on the alero i'll put them on the winter beater (86 celebrity...runs good too)
i don't want it to look like a christmas tree but just a little more light in front with the highbeams on.

I would be careful with the original foglight wiring. If you put more draw on it will probably melt. Maybe use it to trigger a relay to power the aux. foglights that draws minimal power.

I just ran new wires from the battery, then to a switch in my change holder then back out to power my fog lights.
