Ok,

I'm not sure if anyone else had this question, or just didn't know how to do it themselves.

I replcaed my factory radio, and got as new console mask.
I took everything apart just fine, but I should have removed my shift knob.

Now the lovres or slats that cover up the track for the shifter are out of place and just loose in the panel. I need to remove the panel to fix it.

It's just the 4 speed auto, with a leather wrap knob. Only thing I can see is a mettal tooth hidden below in the fornt. should it release if I push it in?

just so there is no confusion. NO you do not push it in, and YES there is a metal clip that you must pull out. then the shifter slides right off

its a pain to get in the first few times.. just doesn't seem to line up right. but then after the first hour of fighting w/ it, you'll finally get it.

An automatic that has the little staple looking F***er, that cherrington is right about being a pain to get back in needs to come OUT. Then the knob just slides off.

i know you're from the backwoods or whatever. but i'll say it again.

yes it's an automatic, and to REMOVE THE SHIFTER. you PULL OUT the metal retaining clip.

I appreciate the input. I'll test it out and let you know how it goes.

The problem is solved. It's a metal clip that keeps the shifter from coming off.

It pops out. I decided to try that first, seeing how I tried to push it in before.

Thanks for the input :)

I know some after market shift knobs come with it, I couldn't say which ones.

A dealership would probably have it. Most of the time they just put new clips in, and scrap the old ones. This goes for any metal clip or plastic fastener.
