Hey , I installed my Pioneer deh-7700 in my car a few months ago and at night the thing is just way too bright.
I've turned the "Dimmer" feature ON in the Headunit, which dims the headunit lights whenever I turn the car lights on, but it really isnt much help.
Is there a way I can adjust the brightness of the lights with my Interior Light control?
On the wire harness (GM Data Bus) there is two wires. (Orange, and Orange/White) One of them says Dimmer, and the Other says illumination. I connected the Orange/White to the matching HU Orange/White wire. However, when I adjust my intereior dash lights, the HU stays the same brightness.
Anyone have any idea?
Thanks

lol seriously.......pioneers are pretty easy, the manual is nice on pioneer for some eq settings, now on a pioneer or a kenwood id definately need the freakin manual........

Yeah I've done that (Turned it off, adjusted the brightness)
But im trying to get it so the HU brightness will adjust with the brightness of the interior lights.
Is it possible?

you would probably have to tap into the output on the dimmer switch but even then im not sure......im not sure what the dimmer range is on the stock switch compared to what the head unit needs........
and you said you try'd the orange/white wire, why not try the orange wire now seeing as how the other one didnt work, try the orange off your deck onto your orange/white on your cars harness(as long as thats the dimmer....)
ive never really looked into this cause I never cared, i like a bright HU, and the brightness level on the settings has always worked for me whenever i wanted to tone it down........

Some of the newer HU's can't operate with a external dimmer. It all depends on the type of display used. Older lcd technology dims with voltage while newer displays are dimmed by varying resistance inside the HU.
