OK, it seems that any exhaust site I go to, they make an exhaust for a grand am, but only the 3400.

Then I go and look up ecotec, and the sunfire cavalier shows up.

Is custom the only way to get a cat back system for this car ?

I'm thinking about the Borla, from the reviews I've heard on this site.

3400 exhaust for grand am and alero will fit and work find on 2.4 and 2.2

cav or sunfire does not.

IMO custom is the way to go, not only is it cheaper but you can get exactly what you want out of it

thanks Jackal and oldsman.

I'd like to go with borla, but if I must go with srp I will :P

I need to hear a comparison and not at separate times :P

it's slp lol

all you are really paying for with borla is the name IMO. and even with slp, if you can find a local shop that will mandrel bend pipes then go that route. i paid $250 for my whole set up versus what you will pay (roughly)

slp pipes - $400 (roughly, shipped)
muffler - $80ish
tips - $50ish
labor for install - $100

you do the math :thumb:

FWIW, hardly any shops have mandrel benders. Most mandrel bends are done in an industrial setting, not at a muff shop. You can order the bends then have the muff shop weld em in though.

gre0481....i did custom exhaust on my ecotec, magnaflow hi-flow cat (60 bucks, free shipping), dynomax super turbo camaro muffler (50 bucks, free shipping, 25 dollar rebate), and magnaflow stainless tips (45 bucks), and all of that conected by 2.25 inch piping, really really nice in my opinion, i did alot of research on aleromod, j-body.org, and ecotecpower.com and i found that that was the way to go, i went with the dynomax muffler b/c there are a few people on here who have had it and really like the sound it gives...........and like jackal said, it's ALOT cheaper to go custom, if you have any questions just ask or shoot me a PM b/c i've been looking into/researching exhaust for the ecotec for a long time now before i bought mine
