i am going to have a paint shop paint my tail lights for me...i got the corvette style overlays...and i was wondering if/what i should do anything before i put the sticker things on and have them paint them...if anyone has an idea please let me know...thanks a lot everyone!

i already told you in pm...just rub 'em down with rubbing alcohol to make sure they're clean and the paint will stick

i roughed mine up with a red scotch brite pad thing my body shop uses. and follow what 2000 said.

what paint would i use...my car is black...and would i need a clear coat on them after...also does the black match the stock black?

are you doing the painting or a body shop?? if you want it to look right you match the color of the car and if you do it this way, you clear coat the tails.

honestly...if you do some of the manual labor of prep work...i dont see this costing over $100 (good job). i cant say for sure cuz mine was done with the car

i really hope you don't pay to get 'em done....dude...it cost me $6CAD, and about 3 hours to get mine done...i just gotta touch 'em up with some wetsandin to get 'em perfect....NO CLEAR COAT....it dulls the paint on the tails...trust me

depends on the paint..i used an actual plastic paint, and tried clear coating them, and they went right dull...so i had to sand 'em down and restart...

ok yeah that makes sense, and thats prolly were you saved a lot of your money.

so i guess its going to depend on look and how much you wanna spend.

bnight...is that testers paint spray...if not is there some sort of spray paint that i could/should use and if so what should i get...gloss..flat...i just dont know what paint would look the best with my black car.

I used some "Tec Clean" from Martin Senour paints. (We do bodywork on the side.) Then I just sprayed 3 coats of NiteShades on my tails. I then wet-sanded them and polished them to a shine with 3M compound and buffer. My pics are on the webpage in my sig. I didn't use any clearcoat at all.
