Window Tint - Input, Your Experiences

OK, I've talked to Police departments in Mi, and in california.

I've talked to different cops, etc.

What is the actual legal limit of tint for the front and side windows.

And rear passengers. If i'm correct, I've heard the back and rear passengers can be dark as they want, but in the front and front driver/passenger door, I've had mixed answers. I know a place that forges doctors notes. But How believable is that?
I've heard 5% in fronts, or only the top part, like a shade.
I've also seen tickets for rear window banners for a car club. They said it blocked the vision looking out. They were vinyl. (ever see Duddy Souf in SO Cal)?

So I'm just asking for input. I talked to the county sherriff up in lapeer, and they didn't have a written guide. This would be a good flier at SoS, that and lighting mods

so your doing this for her?? sweeeet =-P lol. Even if it didnt work out with her, chicks love dating guys with cool cars, so we can drive them or just ride in them, w/e! lol. It really does matter! I once dated this guy with a terribly beat up 89 Toyota PU, and that sucked.

Oh, and on window tinting, inspectors hate it, cuz ur supposed to use this sensor thing to measure the percent of tint, and my dad doesnt even inpect cars with tint unless they bring their own sensor, cuz they are expensive, and we dont have one =-P a lot of shops around here dont. i want tint eventually, but im staying well within the legal limits so im not being harassed by cops all the time.

here in ny, we have to have no more then 5% tint on front and sides. rear window and back window can be as dark as you want. (can be painted black for all they care)

i have 35% all the way around and i haven't been looked at once.
(also helps i have alot of interior lighting at night. w/ that lighting things up, i don't think they care that my windows are darker)

Straight from a Michigan State Cop (real asshole):

Windshield: tinted down to AS1 line
Front windows: you can have a strip 4" high down from the top tinted
Rear windows: he didn't say, but I've looked it up, and you can have any shade, but it can't be more than 35% reflective, i.e. no mirror tint

I have the prescription now, but I haven't had any more problems. I had another state cop sign off on the ticket and sent it in, only cost me $0.37 and the gas to get to the Brighton Post.

I think i'll go that route because

A, My eyes are vcery light sensitive and
b, Contacts make it worse

C. I have an eye appointment coming up :P

i have 15% on my alero all the way around except for the windshield....
havent gotten pulled over...
if you ask for it, you will get pulled over for it like my friend...

I couldn't get my eye doctor to write me one (I didn't really push cause he's a family friend), he said that by law I had to have a medical condition that required me to have tint on my car. But since I have such bad migraines my doctor wrote me one no problem. And it actually does help with the headaches because I get them from the sun in my eyes, especially at sunrise and sunset, and headlights at night.
Oh, and when I went to the other state cop, she was a bitch too, she said she was going to call the cop who wrote the ticket and tell him that she signed it. Then she told me that he could put restrictions on my license that I could only ride in vehicles that are tinted and not drive at night because of my prescription. I think she was trying to scare me into just taking off the tint. But seriously, my car is tinted, so is my boyfriend's and all his familys', so no problems there. And as if any officer checks everyone's license to make sure they're ok to ride in the car when they pull you over. Plus when I'm driving at night especially I don't speed, so there'd be no reason for me to get pulled over and for anyone to see that restriction.
But, like I said, I've had the tint for, um, a year and a half now and that's the only time I've had a problem. Pat even got into it with a cop while he was driving my car and he didn't say anything about the tint.
