View Full Version : Funny Noise When The Auto Shifts

okay, this only happens when I gun it, and NOT when I'm granny driving:

when I reach around 5k rpm's, maybe a little later, the auto decides to shift, but there is a wierd clicking sound. I would describe the sound as a combination between a duck quack and shuffling cards.

Is this sound normal or is there something wrong?

is the click right from the tranny? or does it kinda sound like when a live wire touches a ground click? i don't have an auto...but i've driven 'em

PM Overdrive75. Could be a roller clutch thingy. I pay attention to most of what he talks about. :) Depending on the year, there's a reflash at the dealer that might solve your problem.

LOL yeah, nothing even close to that... have you checked to see if maybe you have a duck under your hood?

I dont get any noise but around 5k rpms my car feels like it slams into 2nd gear. Only ever get this when I gun it. Granny driving is fine.

GM couldnt find anything wrong with it. In fact the service guy I dealt with about it said they checked my shift points and said they were perfect... so I dont know.

maybe the free-er flowing setup has me hearing stuff I wouldn't normally hear?

:o You really need to look under your hood.... Maybe you got a duck stuck in the intake!!!
Quacking and shuffling? I bet the shuffling is really flapping! The poor guy is trying to get the hell out of there!

so, did you pay to have them check it, or what?

The Auto in my 2.4 would make a niose like a blow off valve when I brought it to redline and shifted manually.

haven't been driving too much. I'm broke. So when I do drive, I drive like an 80-year old woman....except I can see over the wheel.
