Ok, so I bought my car prol 5 -6 months ago, been maintaining it perfectly, changing the oil every 3000 miles and what not then, this time i figure i will change the transmission fluid and filter...well I do this and now the car is acting very strange and is squealing when I go from 1st to second and idleing really weird. its also shifting up and down iratically....now Ive gone through the check for a vaccum leak checked all the sensors, the only one i had any conern about was the map sensor ....but Im not sure thats it...

I went back over what i did and I know I did everything right, i even bought the oem gasket (like 35$). I put the right fluid in, the right amount and everything, I believe it was 4.7 quarts.

Now I talked to someone and they said yes changing the fluid can do this but it just doesnt make any sense that the dealer, hanyes manuals, owners manual and all other sources would tell you to do this anually without telling you theres a chance youll mess your tranny up.

Anyways, to the point, is there anything I can do at this point to fix it besides getting a new tranny, any fluid additives anything, Im dying here...this is REAL big hit to me....ANY type of advice would be awesome, thanks

Will

got me. when i had my tranny fluid changed i had jiffy lube do it with their machine.

if changing the fluid caused this then maybe yoiu are still low on fluid or filter issue.

i'd say filter(i know you're already in the shop tho probly)

sounds like the fluid isn't flowing right/isnt enough in?

I had mine flushed with a machine this week. As far as your problem, it does sound like it is not flowing correctly. Now, somebody stop me if I'm wrong, but I think I vaugley remember my husband saying something about auto transmissions having little ball bearing-like things in them that could fall out when the filter was changed? I don't know, just popped into my head.

If you did yourself you did one of two things. You didn't get all the fluid out. Without using a the vacuum pump that professional garages use, you probably left up to three quarts of tranny fluid in your tranny, meaning your could have atround 8 quarts in there. Also if you did it yourself and the tranny had burned some of the tranny fluid you may have gotten a harden chunk in one of the lines that lubricates individual gears. Both are repairable by regular maintenance, though having a line unclogged can be pricey, say $800.

However if it was done at a shop I'd say you had some permanent damage already done to the tranny and now that it's properly maintenanced, it's showwing itself.

How much does Jiffy Lube charge for the flush and fill?.. or what's the typical cost?

lol your not going to believe this, but I checked with the tranny place, he couldnt see me but he told me that on our cars there a small bleeder above the passanger side drive shaft and that if while the car was running, fluid should come out it when its open, if not then theres not enough fluid....yea I didnt have enough fluid in there, it runs perfect now lol
