ABS system....

just this weekend my abs started to cut out...i was just wondering if anybody else had this problem so that i can maybe have an idea of what i'm lookin at to fix it...i really can't afford a big surprise rite now so i hope it's a minor problem

my abs/ traction off have been out for a bit now. its either the sensor on your hub not connected properly or its toast and you'll need to replace`the whole hub assembly. its not too expensive if i recall someone who had it changed was about $200- $300

i hope that ain't it cuz i had to replace 2 of them already and they weren't covered under my extended warranty...and i don't got 300$ to spend rite now either...well i guess all i can do is go to the dealer and get it checked out...thanx for the quick response tho

no prob, its really not that bad as long as you still have normal brake response. just be careful when the roads are really bad and you should be fine without the abs for a bit

ya my trac off and abs lights are on right now....to traction control or abs....great fun (hmmm I wonder if that has anything to do with the big hole in my bumper and the sensor wire being exposed? :rolleyes: ). does it come on and off spuratically? Mine did that for a bit last year but then it quit doing it so.... it might go away hopefully.

It IS most likely the hub assembly. If you can find out which one it is, you can do it yourself. The part is just over $100.00 US at Advance Auto (that's where I got mine). I posted a how-to for it. It's not that bad.

that's what i'm thinkin too...cuz the code erases itself when i stop the car but as soon as i need the abs once the code comes back and no more abs...the bad weather is almost done...one more month or so...if i can manage i'll wait till fall...unless of course sumthing happens and my car looks likes insane75's :P
haha just kiddin man...ah well nothin a poor college guy can do for now i guess....
