Hey. I have a 2 door alero. Silver. I think it would look clean with a sunroof. How much would one of those cost to have installed?? Would it be a stupid to install one because there is a chance of it leaking?? Thanks for the help. I want an electric one. Thanks

From what I understand, installing one=bad leaking. Your choice, though.

Hey,
What if they seal it real good?? Would it still leak?? What if I took it to a GM place and had them put it on cause they are very experienced. What do you think?? Should I do it or not?? I don't want to screw up my car but I think it would look really nice. Let me know what you think. Thanks

Here's my experience with aftermarket sunroofs. I had one installed at a very reputable place about a year later it started to leak. By that time the warranty was no good on it anymore. I will never get another one. Living in Texas made it worse because it was like the sun would bake you through the window. I did have window tint on it and it was red on the outside to match my car. Those are just a couple of things to think about.

yeah probably go where silent told you. However just out of curiosity, why didnt you get a sunroof at the time of your purchase, or ask the dealership to have one professionally installed?

rather than a sunroof, i think you should opt for a sliding ragtop. that'd be :pimp: . i think somebody else on here might be doing one, but i cant remember his name.

ragtops are kew to, and will open more than a normal sunroof, but you got ta find the right size, which not alotta places have,
me i got it installed last year, and no it wasnt from the dealer, a few of my sponsors helped out.

I am 18 and I bought this vehicle used. I bought it for 6000 dollars so I can pay for college without having to pay payments on a car. So my car is payed off already. I think I might be able to put one in if I go to a gm dealership. They are really good at what they do and I believe they will do a good job and not rush it and be sloppy with it. It might cost me a fortune though. How much did it cost you?? Thanks for the input.

well fiesty, it doesnt matter what my cost was, he's askin about sunroofs.
but for the sunroof i had it would have been $1200 installed.
Now dealers can get you a sunroof for like $750-$800 i was quoted before

i still think you should forget about a sunroof and get a sliding ragtop.
sliding ragtop is 10x cooler than a sunroof.

Hey Travis99Alero,
Do you have a pic of a car with a ragtop?? I'd like to see one. I can use a program on my computer to put it on my car to see what it looks like. I don't know that I have seen a ragtop before. I don't know that much about cars, I am just getting into them but I am trying to learn. I've got lots of plans!!! Thanks

Removable center-section in the roof, a-la Corvette C5 and C6... so so B)
MIGHT require a little bit of chassis stiffening though (read: a bunnyload)
