ive priced both about the same but wich is better for my car if I go with a turbo kit it comes with a new exaust manifold and a down pipe can I use a header system instead. And can you use a intercooler with the blower.

a header system with a turbo kit? maybe if you have a custom turbo header made other wise no.

you could use an intercooler with the rsm kit that is itt.

a turbo kit would give you more only due to the fact you can get more boost out of it

Which Engine are we talking about here. If its was the v6 I would say go either way it would give almost equal HP at similar boosts. If its a i4 I would say def the turbo, since it does not drag on the engine and would be a much better choice. I never really understood why people superchare a i4

seeing as this is in the 2.4 section, i'm bettin its the 2.4L 4 banger...

as oldsman said, the turbo will get the most power out of either kit..

there are really no turbo KITS per say...you'll basically have to make up your own...

a cavalier kit will work with some piping mods. those arwe the only kits out there.

$3000 for a complete kit isn't bad

Check the j-body forums or PM Spyhunter from these boards and other Grand Am boards...he's my buddy with a boosted 2.4L running mid-13s right now on 7.5-8#'s of boost.

However, frankly if you're asking questions like this you clearly aren't at a stage in which you SHOULD be owning a turbo or SC for your car yet. Do some research man...

asking questions is a good place to start for research...

But something as simple as this? FI isn't an easy task and I'd assume if you were going to attempt the answer to this question would be answered on it's own..

...but hey, what do I know?

if you have the knowledge and resources to turbocharge your alero i'd suggest not buying one of those kits... actually... if you don't plan on doing any internal engine work (pistons, rods, gaskets) then those turbokits are about all you can do.... those kits don't give much performance though... they peak... they aren't very good... in my opinion the hp isn't worth the 3 grand... if you want to put money into it build a kit for it.... get forged components and buy the stuff to build a good system.... it'll prolly be more around 4,000 but the potential is huge... me and a friend just did this for his Z24.... he opted for building his own when he found out how much the "kits" do... he said it wasn't worth it.... i do think it's strange that you asked if you can use headers instead of the manifold they give you...??? that makes me think you don't know enough about it to attempt it... unless you are having someone else do it.... i's suggest reading up on it and before you go buying "kits" look at some other options and try and find people who have done the same or similar setups.... the Z24 we did was mainly TUBOXS stuff.... on the cavilier we did have a problem routing the oil return line from the turbo becasue it's an automatic and the clearance by the transmition is hardly enough... but we worked it out... i'd imagine the alero has more room... it already has the dual radiator fans.... and there's alot more room in the engine bay in the aleros... in the cavi we also had to re-route the shift cable becasue the intake to the compressor was right in the way...
