Any Ideas to clean up my engine, maybe like tubing colors or chromb tubing or what. If this is what your engine looked like, and you had a limited small budget what would you do?
Paint? Wire Loom? Product Clear and where? whats your ideas? Remember the engine is painted already, so can't go back to the stock look.

Re-do all your lines with Red tubing, that would look nice with your Ignition wires

i would use some chrome loom and some red. also polish the 3400 on the manifold.
and just a general detailing with some good detail spray.
i would also redo your painting. it looks very dull and dark. doesn't stand out very well.

wireloom and good paint work and a regular washdown does wonders. but if you run headers the loom will melt, even with dei header wrap.

I need to find loom that will handle more heat, and do you like my new ThunderVolt 8.2mm wires.

i taped off the monifold around the 3400 and sprayed, it took me about an hour just to tape it.

I looked at doing that, bolts it looks like. But what i think go with Oldsmans idea, but Paint the top manifold red, then come back and polish the 3400

unbolt, take it off, clean it good, paint
shouldn't be harder then that

Doesn't it require a few hoses to be removed, the Throttle body to be removed and so on?

never really looked at a 3400 very much, but if you gotta take it off you take it off..just remember which hose goes where and you'll be fine

So you made it sound all easy and all, but yet you have never taken a look at the 3400 SFI engine. hehe Thanks
Anyone else ?

yea obviously you take off the intake, throttle body and unplug any hoses then just unbolt it. its not until you get into removing the lower intake manifold that you have to worry about draining coolant and such. look in the how to section for the thread about the LIMG, lots more info there.

Thanks for the info

lower intake manifold gasket
i just looked at that thread and there isnt any info about the upper intake really. just use common sense when taking it off, remove only the necessary parts, catalogue them if you have to. you can take a pic of the engine bay before you start so you can look back at it when reassembling.

Thanks for your help man, I am going to remove it, repaint it with a nice black. Let it dry then tape it off, and paint the 3400 SFI and paint that red. Then put a clear coat high temp paint to make it gloosy sound right?

for clear I highly recommend POR 15. the spray on clears like to run. with POR 15 you brush it on and dries beautiful with not stroke marks or runs. and never turns yellow.

What does POR stand for
Oldsman

doesn't stand for anything....POR-15 is the type of clear.
