So I got in a fairly bad crash, I lost my rear driverside wheel/suspension, my rear bumper and had major damage to the rear driverside quarter panel, so its in the autobody shop getting fixed. I figured this is a good opportunity to get some custom work done on the paint, otherwise I would have never touched it. I will get a cheaper price because they are replacing the whole quarter panel so they are doing a lot of painting covered by insurance anyways. I was thinking of doing a simple two color paint job like this but I can't decide which. Any ideas? Also the color is kinda final, But I can always change my mind because it isn't getting worked on for a couple weeks.

I like the color on the bottom, plus it is cheaper, so I'm leaning towards that choice. Anyways any color ideas or opinions are welcome. Oh btw the pics are of jackal2000's Alero, I hope he doesn't mind me using them.

I think a 2 tone Alero could potentially look
very cool... but never in a top/bottom job like
that.

you know, the 2 tone looks pretty sharp. I like the first combo the best.

my only suggestion is that you need some sort of detail where the two colors meet. I suggest you call Chip Foose.

I'd say go with the color on top but have it wrap around the back window instead of going straight back. My old Camaro RS was white with a black hood and roof and the black went around my side windows like in your picture and then up over the roof. Looked pretty awesome.

i like the color on the bottom but have it wrapped up to cover the whole trunk.....that car is sweet anyways :P

if i had to choose, color on top....but i think just a custom colour on the full car would look better..but thats just me

:iagree: yea gonna have to say that the color would look good on the whole car. Maybe add some flake to it or subtle change in contrast. Make the front a little darker than the back or the back a little darker than the front. Our cars don't look all that great with two tone or a couple different colors on it.

ya, that two tone looks pretty slick. With the color on top of course :thumb:

color on bottom looks good. i think the alero will look good with a 2-tone, but you'll need something where the colors meet.

IMO, 2-tone would look better if the colors met at the ridge in the doors and bumpers.

I like gray on the top and red on the bottom... but I do think it needs some kind of border separating the 2. Some knd of pinstriping or something...

you def need something to split the two colors... not alot just a lil something. Look in a mini truckin mag and you will get alot of ideas..

i like the first one. I think it would look good with the red and silver with maybe a black pin stripe seperating the to colors. good luck with it.

i suggest a a custom color on top and bottom and your choice.

And what yo ushould do is have the colors fade into each other, instead of color, then color.

just a color fading into the other color, that would look tighter than a ten year old

fades suck and look nasty. just seperate them with e pinstripe or some other "stripe" design. lot of people do flame stripes. im not one for flames though

^ fades suck unless they are colors that are close to each other. Red & orange would be good. Blue and Purple, fine. green and orange = sucktastic. Gray should only be faded with another shade of gray, or black or white. Definitely not orange.

I stand by my previous post. 2-tone dividing line on an Alero needs to be closer to the ridge on the side of the door. It maintains a clean look.

ah never mind, I decided to go with a solid BMW blue metallic, kinda simular to the blue GA in the RSM racing ad in the top banner.

^ that's a hot color. my next door neighbor has a 325i (might be 320 or 330...I get them all mixed up) in that color.
