2 gallons?!?! u should only need half a gallon of color if you're just shooting the outside. I'd still get a gallon to be on the safe side. but i only used a little over half a gallon and i did the whole car, jams and all. of course you still need clear, etc.

ddba12 04-03-2006 11:23 PM

Im actually having this done next week with the razzi kit that ime getting. My cousin has a private body shop and is painting the razzi kit for me at no charge. Yay lucky me!

a half gallon is PLENTY... i did that eclipse with a half gallon... door jams too... i used a gallon of clear but it was for the whole car... if you are repainting your whole car i'd say a gallon... mabye an extra half gallon if you feel like you need it... dont forget you have to buy hardener for it too... painting is easy... clearing is a little tricky... like i said... do it on something else first to get the hang of it... you'll get it... i spent 300$ on paint, clear, and hardener... i picked my color out of a book and they just mixed the code... there should be a paint code on your car somewhere... prolly in the glovebox... so if you are just doing the kit pieces just give them your code and it should match right up... you should get by a little cheaper cause you shouldn't need so much of everything...

the acrylic enamel (base and clear in one) is cheaper to buy... it does look alright... i think poeople prefer the 2 step way becasue you can get a brighter finish... so that's recommended... :thumb:

Paint code is on dash looking throught the front window on the bottom driver side, or in the driver door jam.

sound_xtreme 04-04-2006 12:34 AM

also on the spare tire cover.

2fst4u 04-04-2006 12:36 AM

sound_xtreme 04-04-2006 12:41 AM

not that i remember. i know it has the tire sizes and poop there. my sticker has been gone for a while so im not real sure anymore.

natedawg - awesome work man! Northern MI huh... Want to do mine after the show in Lansing? :P

SilverBullet256 04-04-2006 02:58 AM

this is really tempting me to re-paint me car, my godfather has a body repair shop in his garage and he will let me use the tools and everything and even help me if i need advice, and all i would need is the paint, if only i could get the right paint code....

natedawg9640 04-04-2006 01:22 PM

not northern MI... northern WI... 3 hours north of the wisconsin capitol... (madison)

Redog 04-04-2006 02:25 PM

$1500?

They see you comming a mile away.

I see cars in Philly and they talk about it costing them about $1500 to $2000 to paint a Civic. Nothing speical, just a basic color, clear coat, etc.

$400 to repaint, and put in an extra cutout, in my rear bumper. and they had my car about 3 days.

I don't know who "we" is... i'd imagine your shop... of which i do not belong to... nor do i work at one... i'm referring to the type of paint i bought at the paint store... and the only paint i am familiar with... it worked for me... and yes it was easy... and i asked about the blending becasue i don't know how to do it... i didn't have to do it... and he shouldn't have to do it... so that's irrelevent. i'm just saying that i had no prior training in technique or anything and it came out dandy.

ppgnut 04-04-2006 06:20 PM

"we" is in refernce to us body fender/painters, and nothing is irrevlent it all makes sense
so you don`t know how to do something but yet you give advice on painting
that makes no sense
but enjoy

Str33tRacer 04-04-2006 11:10 PM

wait im really confused. It costs about 300 bucks for 1/2 gallon of paint 1/2 gallon of clear and some hardware?!?!?

AftermathAlero 04-04-2006 11:18 PM

hahah 300? my dupont gallon of white paint, 2 quarts of blue, and 1 pint of silver paint, & 1 gallon of clear, all the reducers/activator totalled out to be 1200 bucks for my paint.

But ya.. paint materials is expensive!

def not, my paint costed over 600 after my discount of like 400.....

i could see 1 stage paint costing 300 maybe, but 1 stage sucks.

natedawg9640 04-05-2006 10:34 AM

I forgot what brand it was but yes... it only cost me 300$ for a half gallon of 1997 corvette blue metallic, reducer, hardener, and a gallon of clear coat. I got it from the NAPA here in town...

sound_xtreme 04-05-2006 01:49 PM
