This is just getting down right funny. If you install a cutout on a car and run it on the streets no matter where you are your not only breaking the Motor vehicle code you are breaking other codes for excessive noise. bottom line is you can be fined for it and I have known many people who have gotten tickets for their fart cans, other aftermarket exhaust, and the strait pipes on trucks, this happens every day and even if it has not happened to any of you yet or your friends it does happen and there are codes allowing the police to ticket if they feel the need to do so.

What you need to ask yourself is this. Is it resonable to have a by-pass of any kind on your exhaust if you can control if it is on or off? I think that is resonable. Now is it resonable to have the by-pass on while driving on public streets? I think that is a bit much. No one like hearing peoples base 5 cars down so why would you want to hear someones exhaust?

So what about the SRT-4 that doesn't even have a muffler from the factory, is it automatically in violation? :wtf:

At least i have a muffler or two on my 3400, though they're extremely high flow and most certainly still breaks the code. (I don't drive it that much)

No, the law states that if the car comes from the factory without a muffler than its OK.

Edit: Just like if you have a vintage car with no seat belts, a cop can't give you a ticket because thats how the car was built.

it's also illegal to park a camel within 5 yeards of an alligator on main street on sunday in the town or jimminyhasselcraft rhode island between easter and labor day...

HAHAH that is crazy enough to sound like a real law, is it?

Sinatra 05-17-2006 11:22 AM

I know is Louisiana its illegal to whistle on a Sunday. Its also illegal to ride a bike with one hand. My ex was a cop down here and she would tell me that cops in her department would honk and wave at people on bikes, when the person on the bike would wave back, they would get a ticket...pretty messed up.

How do these laws get put into the code?

Satsuriku 05-17-2006 11:27 AM

alot of the times there just very old laws that were put in place but were never removed since its never really inforced so they dont even give them a second thought
