|
use a blow dryer and goo gone, or sticker and glue removal spray. Advance should have it. Spray it, let it sit, then buff it out.

Hey do you think I have the same kind of crap holding on the Delta's trim?
22 years of weather makes the tirm look like total crap, thus holding down the apperance of the car:( |
The delta might be old enough to still have actual screws holding the trim but I don't know for sure.
|
^^ That's what I was thinking, I didn't wanna just yank it off and be up shit's creek
|
Do you have any pics (just to see how bad the trim really looks)
Also--I take it you don't feel like filling/painting any holes that may potentially be left by the removed screws You could look into purchasing replacement trim, although It'd be tough finding anyone that's manufacturing it for that era/model of car |
This is the best I have. As you can see, it doesn't look too bad from a far, but up close it's all faded and discolored.
A guy took his off his Chevy over on B-Body.org, but that site is no more :( BTW, the drums are Black now and Olds center caps too ![]() And from afar! ![]() |
ok i have a black ring around where the molding was anyone know how to get that off plz help i have all the glue off just cant get that "black ring" to go away

hey me too! i gave up trying to get it off. |
Redog, maybe you could take the interior door panel off and see if you can see the inside where the trim would attatch?
|
try maybe gettin the car professionaly buffed to get the black ring off? its because of all the road grime and crap from over the years im sure. And shouldnt be in the clear coat/paint. My cars black so it took just alittle elbow grease to get off the dis-coloration and its not even noticeable on my car. But a lighter color i could see where it could be an issue.
|
how much are we talkin on getting it buffed? and could i just use a regular buffer or not?

The small rubber strip on the side of the door was just glued on on my '80 Delta 88 (which I still have). There was some thick black adhesive holding it on, but for the most part it just rubbed off. You could also use goo gone (great stuff!!) to get it off. The chrome along the bottom of the car is held on by clips, the clips attach to studs on the bodywork, so to remove the chrome, you would have to sand or grind the studs off and repaint the bottom of the car. Also, don't yank your vinyl top (if you've got one and are wanting to pull it) until you've got the trim to go around the back window on hand. You'll have to screw the clips onto the metal to hold the rear trim around the window, as the vinyl topped models didn't have the proper studs to attach the clips. There's a yahoo group, the 77-90 B-Body group which I helped create that may be of some help to you. I'm no longer a member, due to the fact that my delta has been parked for the last couple years. We put it up after gmforums.com got sold. EDIT: I didn't realize that delta was YOURS. Sweet car man! I always wanted a coupe! Mine is a 4 door, and its in primer. |
