our cars have "power antennas" they HAVE to be hooked up to get good reception

Ryan from Ohio 01-17-2007 10:44 PM

ok, for thoose of us not totally in on this power anteena deal lease elaborate...

My antenna is plugged into my radio vial the coaxial wire. Now I got to power that anteena up.

Where and how?

That could explain my crappy ass reception...

Take your wiring harness and run the power antenna wire into the main power wire (blue or red, not sure)

TADA

you gotta hook up the antenna wire off the harness(vehicle side) to the remote/antenna turn on wire(radio side)......its basically a unit that amplifys your antenna.......you will notice you pick up FM but has minor static and no AM whatsoever.........im pretty sure the antenna wire off the radio side is blue, if your using a wire harness so that you dont have to cut into the factory one, its probably blue on the other side too......

whiteliquid 01-17-2007 11:08 PM

No there is only one blue it is on the radio side, You connect it to the power wire (vehicle and radio side)

you can connect the power antenna lead to your power antenna(or remote turn on) lead out of your new deck. or alternatively you can tie the power antenna into the ACC wire.

I'm having this issue of no am, and I'm guessing it comes from that problem, we are learning everyday in here ty!

bigd6983 01-18-2007 10:59 PM

i said i wasnt sure......my car now both sides are blue. radio side is remote turn on and vehicle side is for the antenna.......both aftermarket harnesses have no color coordination with the stock wire harness which is why i said they may both be blue because remote turn on and antenna wire is usually blue.........

u probably got the + & - wires backwards on the speakers

racin4JC 01-19-2007 12:23 AM

If your refering to my original post, I still need to double check how my buddy wired it (it is pretty hard to screw up + and - especially since he has put at least one in in the past)but I am going to mess with it this weekend.

racin4JC 01-19-2007 06:58 PM

Hey thanks guys for the help we got it working good now, it turned out it was just a wiring issue so we fixed it up and she sounds good (for stock speakers)!
