I too used a hair dryer, it was a major pain the the ass, also forgot to polish the bezel too : / took about 3 hours all together and tons of cuts and sores on my hands afterwards

Clearing the headlights is actually pretty easy. Using a blowdryer=not a good idea, because it takes so damn long. Just throw one in the oven at 100-150 degrees?? i think thats what it is, i forgot:lol: then pull that apart, and the rest is easy.

Took me like 2 hours for both of them, i did have moisture in one corner a few months after clearing it, but i just took the headlight off, and blowdryed inside of it, then i put clear silicone around all the edges again.

SIMPLE MOD-CHEAP MOD-and it makes the car look so much better!:coolio:

zoL 02-28-2007 10:05 AM

Yeah, I tried to do it once, but I left it in the oven and forgot about it. Lol.

3 hours? wtf... i did mine maybe 3 years ago after high school one day in my dad's shop. just pried em apart and put em back together... its easy as shit. NEVER had a leak either. 30 mins tops.

Not to sound stupid.... But when you're clearing the corners if you use a heatgun do you have to take the lamp out of the car? Is the actual colour on the inside or outside of the lamp?

[ion] C2 03-17-2007 01:01 PM

.. the link above has detailed pictures too, the answer is there

DaRockwilder 03-17-2007 01:50 PM

I didn't use new silicone when I did mine. I never took the old stuff out either. When I put them back together, I put it back in the oven and THEN pushed them back together so that the factory stuff re-sealed. Worked like a charm.

You really can't mess up doing it in the oven. Unless you maybe fall asleep on the couch during the 10 minutes you have them in there for. Otherwise there's no worries. I was skeptical myself, but I had an extra headlight and it was pretty simple stuff.

DOHC_tuner 03-17-2007 10:20 PM

Well I cooked my headlights today and it took me less than a hour since I took the oven approach. SMELLS GOOD! :)

DaRockwilder 03-18-2007 02:59 PM

Your turn signal bulbs are 3157's, and APC makes some that are chrome during the day but still light up amber.

Here's a before and after on my car...
