Well, his myspace says he's in Utah, and I'm pretty sure they measure in miles there...plus in his post, he says his oil changes are every 2000 ~miles~, so I think it's safe to say, that's in miles. To which I say, Kudos! I hope I get there too! I'm at 134,000 now, not even halfway there.

[ion] C2 07-13-2007 11:12 PM

Wow. I didn't even see that he mentioned miles,.

Ive put 100000kms on mine and only had a few minor stuff, steering high pressure line blew, all bearings/hub replaced, two tie rods..

I think thats acceptable for 2 years, but im also religous with oil changes, Im running 87 octane most of the time..

Running high octane is worth every penny if you can afford to (afford not to?) its cleaner, dosent leave as much deposits, and is efficient..

actually, i treat my car very well.... don't want anything to go on it real soon becuz i don't have the money to fix it. preventive maintence goes far...

any idea how much a rebuilt trans would run me? i had the place that changed the trans oil qoute it and they wanted about $2000 which is alot for me.

darn, i hope it holds out for awhile...it was shifting funny today but it does that every so often..

SIUlero 07-14-2007 10:40 AM

Probably won't find one rebuilt for much less than that. There's always the salvage option though....just try to find one with low miles, and save more if you can pull it yourself.

yeah thats in miles, well add another 2000 miles to it. lol, but yeah its been treated very good! and about the lifter noises, its still solid quiet (whatevr that means) but makes sense! lol. i think i've been bragging too much about my car its starting to choke! but i think its just my cat that needs to be replaced.

:haha: LOL! yeah thanks, i do use the SLICK 50 engine treatment at every other other oil change, so it could be that helping my old car run good! u should try that if you haven't already.

TheEdgeofSanity 08-08-2007 11:38 PM

yep. i did a slick 50 treatment. we do in all of our vehicles. plus, the synthedic helps too

TheEdgeofSanity 08-08-2007 11:39 PM

and... does anybody know why the site changes stuff to say "dink" at the end? like my last post.

jayson_waltz 08-08-2007 11:45 PM

it changes d*i*c*k, minus the *'s. You must have tried to spell it synthed*i*c*k (minus the *'s again).

dubbzalero 08-16-2007 01:51 AM

id recommend getting that needle bearing checked out...that could be your only problem with the tranny

that would require a complete teardown of the trans....at which point it would be stupid to not replace the clutches and seals (total rebuild)

TheEdgeofSanity 08-16-2007 10:45 PM

i'm thinking of selling mine anyway ( i don't care for the 4 door) and trying to find a newer, lower mileage 2 door. does anybody know if they made the 2 doors with the 3400 engine? i prefer the 6 cylindar over the 4 cylindars.

blueolds01 08-19-2007 12:45 AM

yes, they made the 2 doors w/6's. i just so happen to have one...

which is what I have, and love.
and for good measure, get the LIMG done right away BEFORE you have a problem. I'm sure if you tell the dealer to check, you might find signs of a leak and they can fix it before you buy it

TheEdgeofSanity 08-19-2007 11:39 PM

hey, i was also wondering which kind of alero was produced with the sport suspension. i know it was one of the 2 door variances but i really don't know the details. any help would be great

Cliff8928 08-20-2007 12:29 AM

the performance suspension (FE3) was standard on the GL2 and available on the GLS. You can just check the service parts identification label on the underside of the spare tire cover for the code. FE2 is standard (I don't think any came with FE1).

SLVRalero 02-11-2008 10:55 PM

its well beyond 300K now and still running excellent.
