I dunno, too much chrome on an alero just dont look like it fits, I am a fan of chrome dont get me wrong. But personally I just dont think it looks good on smaller cars, especially on rims smaller than 18. And I really do think our car is too big for 17's, 17's are something you throw on a civic and look good, but i think ours need 18's. someone on here has something that looks like gunmetal or a black rim with a polished lip on a black car, it looks real good, ill find out who and post a pic real quick
Ok its stealth alero, the dark rims look good on a black car, if you got something red, blue, or silver then yea Chrome may be the way 2 go, but on my car being as its black, chrome just seems a lil 2 much for me
i'm with the slim minority of you that think chrome looks bad on our cars. It just doesnt look right. No matter what the rim style i.m.o. Thats why i got silver. And black rims only look good on a black car. Just my $.02
yea I know there are people out there that think chrome looks good on anything, but IMO i dont think it does, silver looks good, all depends on the body of the car, color, cant just slap chrome on and expect it to look good cause its chrome.
I'm with you guys. Personally, I rarely like chrome rims unless it's on a "bling" kind of vehicle. Like SUV's, mini trucks, etc. Seems as though most people around here think the more chrome the better. I have to disagree with that. One more thing, on an alero the 18 is the perfect size. A set of 19's would look very good also. 17's just don't cut it anymore, unless it's on a smaller car.
Just my opinion. |
I think a 2 carat diamond would be the perfect size for my hand. 1 carat just doesn't cut it anymore.
Feel free to put 18s on your car, but don't tell me my 17s, or stock wheels, aren't good enough. I can't afford more than that, and I like the ride better. |
i personnally think chrome goes better with certain colors...just like white rims are real nice on red cars....i've got chrome 18's, and i sure as hell would never go back...just my opinion
ack, white rims, rice rockets dream.........chrome does look good on certain colors and on certain cars, chrome is for more flashier rides I think, just opinions
Chrome, silver, hyperblack.... what ever floats your boat.
Personally I like gunmetal with a polished rim.... they look sweet when they are in motion... |
chrome 18's are the way to go. here's mine...
See I feel that chrome is for american power and bling bling and anything else is more for the sport compact scene. So it all comes down to what group you fall in or be it what age you are. But I like the most the wheels I see on here but its a good indicator of what group you fall into.
jackal I dig your rims(you need some drilled rotors and it would look really good).....but in my opinion i dont dig chrome on our cars, it looks ok but its just not my style?
to each his own.
yeah im working on getting those rotors. |
i really like ur rims jackal...u ain't lowered tho rite?
I'm pretty fond of the polished stock rims. But I just found out that my calipers seized up the other day. So since the crappy composite rotors are warped as hell, and the calipers are seized I have a good reason to drop the money on the baer kit, wich also means upgrading rims :D

yea thats the only other reason id upgrade to bigger rims number one being I have nothing left that I want to the alero, and because I get a bigger brake kit..........like jetfix said.....
Hey Sundayalero, I did your shoes. Personally I think the gunmetal look hot on red cars. And the polished lip just add to it.
I had the 16 stockers in Polished. The only reason I got my 17" is because one was bent very slightly and losing air. It took2 years before it started losing air
I put the silver on (chrome is too heavy and tacky IMO) and the silver makes the car color really stand out better B) |
the comment of depending on where you fit in is right.
I do like the factory rims. I would like a set of OSV rims. Even a nice set of other chrome rims. But when performance is your main thing, why would you add 4-10 lbs of rotary mass to each wheel. that adds up way too much. So it depends on show or go. |
