Good to know thanks ! |
Hmm, I never knew about the too much gas in the tank can harm your mpg... its definitely good to know. Alero81, is your car stock? Which engine do you have?
|
I get 600kms per 45 litres.
Noticed a difference with new plugs got an extra 100kms per "tank" |

Yes My car is stock besides the cold air intake! Quote:
hmm.... New plugs maybe I should do that.:( |
425kms all city driving and running the tank pretty empty, 3600 V6
|
i usually average anywhere from 485-550 km with usual fillups between 43-46 L of gas... not sure what that works out to be in MPG...
Maybe someone could post up a conversion for us canucks.... lol... |

haha I didnt know they did a special edition Alero with a bigger V6? ;) For myself, this tank I have actually 500 km and the light just came on. Thats mainly city driving. The tire pressure trick really works. Fill your tires to the max psi it is written on the side of them. I was affraid at first, but I do get 80 to 120 more km per tank because of that. |

That cant be good for the tire's what you save in gas cost you in tires is it really worth it ? |
thats like 45psi for stockers... not like.. 70psi (what my g/f's dad had her tires inflated to) :glare:
|
^^huh? why would you put that much pressure in your tires? if you're over-inflating them that much they are going to balloon. Read the door sticker. I think most or all of our cars recommend 30 psi. 30-32psi should be fine.

my last tank, i put in 13.2 gallons.... i wasn't sure how much further i could go without walking... |
btw. I keep accurate values for my fuel economy in an excel chart. I am getting an average of 449.4 km/per tank and an average economy of 23.44 mpg since April 2007. My highest was 610km (31.09 MPG) this summer with all highway driving.
Averages: 11.06 cents/km and 17.80 cents/mile. Gas prices have been an average $1.09 per Litre or $4.14 per US Gallon. I paid $5.20/Gallon on my last fill. I have the 2.4L 5 speed |

Do you live in the states ?I have not seen gas prices at 1.09 in Canada in a long time ! |
From Oshawa, less than 2 hours from Kitchener.
From January 2007 to January this year gas prices held pretty steady around $1/L . 0.94/L was a cheap fill, and last Friday as I'm sure you know gas prices jumped 13 cents and I paid $1.377/L. Today they are $1.19 and I feel like I am getting a deal! I didn't think our prices where that far off from Kitchener.. I have relatives in Waterloo. |
I get like 425 for the tank. with the new WAI. I might change the plugs. just had an oil change.

yea i dont understand why people fill their tires to 40psi.....its dumb. over inflation will cause the tires to bulge out a little in the middle, which will make the center of the tires wear A LOT faster. 30-34 psi is what you should have in your tires. ESPECIALLY if you have rims and your tires have a low profile..... if you have 40psi in your tires and you hit a pot hole, NOT GOOD. I've always kept my tires at 30-32 psi and the tires dont wear too quickly..... I would much rather have my tires last longer instead of getting a few more mpgs by overinflating..... |
Actually, the factory tire pressures are a compromise for good comfort, wear and handling. At stock tire pressures I'd probably wear the side walls pretty good. I run like 41 in the front a 36 in the rear.
