Just for fun, you could take off your cat converter, resonator, and muffler... straight pipe it, and you'd have some prettty neat flames coming out the back when you let your foot off the gas. May need to remove the exhaust manifold gasket though. :P Accidently did that at school when we were testing our dodge neon engines. i swear that v4 sounded like a NASCAR.

it'll be loud and poppy, it'll sound like poop, really loud poop, and you'll have no performance because of lack of back pressure.

i have 2.5 everything, except for a 3" cat... i lost a little performance because of backpressure.... straight pipes would kill you.

My friend straight piped his 3.4L 97 Monte Carlo and it sounded like a Sea-Do that was sinking. He also had put an extra resonator in it to change the sound a bit.

But he said he only lost very little power out of the hole (likely cause that resonator gave him some back pressure) and yeah it sounded well like I just told u kinda dumb. It peaked in dB volume at 2500 Rpm and then just stayed that loud the rest of the way through the RPM. which is useless when cops are around cause u can't get going very good from a stop never reaching even close to 2500 RPM

Pushrod, 2-valve-per-cylinder V6's sound like ass. I've always said that, but I've never had a good way of explaining the sound. But that is an EXCELLENT description of what an un-corked pushrod V6 sounds like. A sinking sea-doo; I.E. - ASS! :P
