well if your looking into appearance mods. if your ever curious about how something will look. try it with "plasti-dip" first

Everyone else is just messing with you.
What are your goals?
That will help us make proper recommendations.

My goal is to get headers intake and a exhaust first off but i wanna paint my car... i always liked the white on it but i always loved Green im not sure if i want a body kit or just stick with a different hood.. my car is fully stock except for the sound system i want to "sea foam" (clean) the engine and fully tune everything i just want to know what brands are the best and cheapest to mid price
First off i need a new fuel pump... seems like the alero built ones never last anyone so i want a aftermarket one to start off my build (: :canada:

Shiwnath 10-27-2011 06:53 PM

Dont listen about that tornado crap it's useless. theres a lot people on this site that know their shit, but when it comes to helping newbs to make the right choice, they talk a whole bunch of shit which just wastes your time and wastes their time as well.

You're right, your 3400 has pushrods.. What kind of power are you trying to make? If i were you I would just do minor mods like a CAI, exhaust and headers for now..keep doing research and when you learn a bit more then you can aim a bit higher.

Hellfire5670 10-27-2011 06:57 PM

im not a pro but i know a few things about cars and my alero im trying figure it out from top to bottom to learn what is proper for it i know i want to get a CAI and headers and exhaust i wanted then for a while but im not sure whats good :S

spc2125 10-27-2011 07:29 PM

First MOD : CLEAR YOUR CORNERS. THEN TINT WINDOWS
performance mods first (intake, headers, exhaust)
THEN (suspension) lowering springs, struts, rear/front strut bars
THEN looks. rims. body kit/paint

Shiwnath 10-27-2011 08:23 PM

for a cold air intake this will do:
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/00-02-04-05-G...item4cf385e52b

For headers, Pacesetter makes low cost headers for our cars:

http://wot-tech.com/shop/gm-60v6/pac.../prod_296.html
If you're feeling up to spending the extra money on quality headers, then you'd want these:
http://www.milzymotorsports.com/miva...5GA3400headers

For exhaust, you can go get something custom fabbed at any competant exhaust shop. Magnaflow is a decent brand. If you feel like spending $1000, Borla makes a full exhaust system for the Grand Am that can also fit on our cars as well.

Hellfire5670 10-27-2011 09:35 PM

alright thanks! of course im getting the CAI first i love the sound of the V6 how much do you think someone would charge for straight 2.5? or would you not recommend that? i wanna go on sound and performance so :S
And i still need a fuel pump to ever run my car :S

JLw7123 10-27-2011 10:32 PM

Well if you wand sound make sure to spend the money on quality system also parts from the grand am fit. Do u have plans on getting rims and lowering ur car

Yes! after the body kit im lowering it. I'm getting rims as soon as the snow melts so i have lots of time to save up and pick some nice ones out... but i have no idea how much lowering springs will be :S

ya ya ya... up here in canada we pay more... especially for shipping and cross border duty fees :canada:

a.graham52 10-28-2011 07:11 AM

iv had no issues with fuel pumps in either of my cars. one of them was pushings 180k miles...

Shiwnath 10-28-2011 08:26 AM

For lowering springs and struts, you can find them here:
http://www.tirerack.com/suspension/S...0&autoModClar=

H&R Springs + KYB AGX Struts are supposed to be a really good combination. In case you didn't know, the 1999-2005 Pontiac Grand Am shared the same chassis as the Alero and is almost identical when it comes to mechanical parts... If you're looking for parts on your Alero and can't find anything, try searching for Grand Am parts.

Hellfire5670 10-28-2011 03:22 PM

well for suspension its gonna cost me $1,142.47
well then... welp only around 100 for the cai and 400 for the headers so thats not bad ill go to the junk yard and see if i can find a trashed grand am... are the engines the same also? could i buy this exhaust http://saskatoon.kijiji.ca/c-cars-ve...AdIdZ318889264 and get some parts and put it on?

Yeah the engines are the same. They offered the 2.4 and 3.4 from 1999-2001 and the 2.2 and 3.4 in 2002+...im not sure if that exhaust will work when it comes to fitting your car. Also the exhaust piping is way too big and will cause you to lose more power than you gain because you need backpressure.

yea thats what i was thinking maybe ill look for some 2.5" and make it my self or find one at the junk yard on a grand am... maybe even a alero (doubt it) Used parts ftw i really don't wanna spend a grand on exhaust
what about the pace setter exhaust.. it doesn't look like much but is it any good?
and now i want a Eaton M62 supercharger... mmm
Would a 3800 GTP engine fit in the 3400 alero?
and now i want a turbo... :S what is the cheapest xD

LOL Ambitious are we? The 3800 supercharger WILL NOT fit on the 3400s.. Theres the super rare Magnuson M62 kit that fits out engine but there is only 18 in existence.

The only turbo kit that you can buy is made my Milzy Motorsports. It costs somewhere around $4000.

Pacesetter is known for rusting from what I recall, but they sound decent.
