Now that I have gotten mine out:
It's a T25 to remove the steering column shroud. I was only able to remove the top part, removing the bottom part was unnecessary anyway. It was a T30 to remove the bolts holding in the air bag (a T27 does work as well). I tried the Indestructables method to fix the switch, but it's not going to work on mine, since mine seems to have a different problem. |
i noticed my cc stopped working (light turns on but only while i hold the button) after i replaced the mini 20 amp fuse to make the lighter socket work. does this usually happen? so now my lighter works but my cc doesn't.. smdh... i also noticed that the fog light switch doesn't turn on anymore after i replaced the fuse too. are these 2 connected to the same fuse?

MiLo - Does your cruise control work if you hold the button down?
I can confirm that the car works just fine with the cruise control switches removed (except no cruise control). I.E.- nothing bad happens like a dash light or anything. Not that I was expecting anything. |

Naw, it doesn't even work if I hold the button down.. |

I did try this, along with some tape to hold the bit in, worked for me. |

Does the "CRUISE" light come on in the dash? I'm thinking not. |

Just out of curiosity, if you remove the mini 20A fuse, does the cruise control and fog lights start working again? Without looking at the factory service manual (I may do that tonight).... You do know that this car has 3 fuse boxes, don't you? I owned the car for years before I discovered that there was that third one on the passenger side.. |

I haven't tried pulling the fuse to check but I will. What I did was pull the fuse from the sunroof spot since I dont have a sunroof and plug it into the cig lighter spot. And yes I knew about the 3 fuse boxes.. 1on each end of the dash board and 1 in the engine bay.. |

According to my 1999 Factory service manual, all the three above mentioned systems use their own fuse. On P8-244 AUX PWR/CIGAR Fuse - 20A only goes to the 2 outlets. On P8-246 FOG LPS - 10A shows it going ot the fog lamps relay only On P8-247 CRUISE SW - 2A only for the cruise control switch CRUISE Fuse - 10A for the underhood cruise control module SUNROOF Fuse 20A - only for the sunroof On P8-248 The Fog lamps and underhood cruise control module do share the same "ground splice pack" G101 |
Say I want to change the fuses and relays for all the above, where exactly are they located? What number in the fuse box? And where can I buy the relay?
|
The fuses can be an any of the three fuse boxes. Having said that, I think the 10A cruise control one is under the hood. Just look in all 3 fuse boxes until you find all the appropriate fuses and check them with a multimeter (voltmeter) on ohms setting after a visual check of the fuse. I bench test all relays if I think that there is a problem with them, and would never replace one unless it tests bad (I have only ever replaced one relay on a car, ever, and that was in 1993).
