THAT GRAND AM IS AWESOME. MY BROTHER HAS A 99GT WITH THE H.O. ENGINE. HES GOT THE REAL RAM AIR HOOD WITH K&N FILTER. HE USED TO SMOKE ME WITH MY HO WITH ECOTEC ENGINE W/ HEADER, EXHAUST AND INTAKE. I TOLD HIM THE CAR HAS POTENTIAL BUT HE IS THINKING ABOUT TRADING IT IN FOR A MUSTANG GT OR COBRA OR POSSIBLY A CAMARO SS OR Z28 OR EVEN A TRANS AM.

That's me! :) My car was running 15.30's, not very fast. It has cams in it which are working against the blower because I'm losing vacum. The cams come out Tuesday for a more effective grind, they went in long before the blower. Plus the adjustable timing gears are set up for a naturally aspirated engine.

The cams are for sale in the classifieds.

I ran a few 15.3's, capable of lower as the car is now, with the 2.1 60ft on a crap time applied to my best time, I'd have a 15.2. Better than the consitent 16's before the blower. The times were run with my 17 inch wheels on, normal tire presure, full interior and just over a 1/2 tank of fuel. I like to run the car as it is mostly on the street.

My first race was against Mike. He would always jump out first, about half a car length but then once the blower kicked in, I got into 3rd gear over 4500rpm, I'd start pulling on him, I think I barely beat him by a hair at the line. Funny how OHV & OHC races work out. I figure I'm in the 200+ hp range now based on our races.

After the cams come out and a few timing gear adjustments, I should be running mid to high 14's consistently, which is my goal. Thanks for posting the pic Mike. :thumb:

So just got back from the track and my buddy with the naturally aspirated Grand Am I reffered to in this post ran a 14.19!

I just got lucky:) Even though I hope to break into the 13's with some tuning and colder weather

Thanks for the props! Mike, a few mods and you'll be smokin' me!!

I just posted a video of me running a 14.21 in July, in my GrandsOntario gallery, for those interested.

Patch 10-09-2005 10:31 AM

I spent a night a cayuga with these guys and got my pb of 15.1(Before exhaust) Z's car is fun to watch. Most impressive GA that I've seen to date. NO POWER ADDERS. Simply amazing.............anyone that can needs to see this run for themselves........as for me I just want to see 14.9-maybe the next track meet will do it. I have everything done that I'm doing for now. X-mas may bring a new toy that will put me out of the N/A rankings but hey, what the hell, right!!

MikeSS 10-10-2005 05:32 PM

He broke the 13's saturday night

I think he ran a 13.98

xonelith 10-10-2005 07:53 PM

13.991 @ 99.13

Having lots problems through second gear though :(

Video didn't turn out, but I i will probably post it to my GrandsOntario Gallery anyway so maybe someone can tell me what is wrong through second gear:)

SC/T02 11-29-2005 10:16 AM

That is a killer run, congrats!

FutureEcotecOwnerAgain 12-01-2005 04:40 AM

I dont know if its me or what, but why is the guy with the S/C Ecotec Grand am only running in the low 15's in the 1/4. My old Alero with e/i/h ran mid 15's with an auto. Something definately wrong with that car.
