i got a red. ended up getting it for 99.99 new. booya! :yahoo:
found out what might have caused the problem. My 2ga alternator wire... apparently... was resting against my exhaust shield. after i connected my new battery, i kept seeing little flashes. i pulled the wire out... low and behold... there was a melted section of the wire. i patched it up (water tight for now, till i get a replacement) and rerouted the wire. New batt is in, not started yet. gotta reconnect my amp fuses and see how things go. |
my alero runs with the - and + off, your alt died LOL
|
my alt died? rriggghhttt. you mean the one that puts out a constant 14.8V when running.
|
lol owned!

actually i have seen that happen before, i have no idea exactely why though. But one of the times i saw it happen is when me and a bud were boosting the hell out of a old car sittin in the trees to get it running. started smokin pretty nicely too.

The car will run with the terminals disconnected, BUT you do have the potential for a voltage spike. AND if there's some large instant draw at low RPM (like a cooling fan coming on) it usually can't make up for it by the time it's too late and the engine will die.

i realized after i posted, that the way its wired... it would still work. and mine didn't, because my alt wire was touching my exhaust shield. |
