Good post and info. I would like to add some of that in the floor board this summer. I do have a question. The worst rattle I have in my car is the head liner. I have the moon roof and the weight of the controls seem to pull down the Head liner. My sub is only a ten and runs at pretty low volumes 90 percent of the time. This thing still rattles like a mofo. Any ideas as to how to keep the liner from rattling?

have you tried taking the headliner down?

the minimum expanding foam in a can is sweet for getting in area's you cant "dynamat" the regular foam expands so much over time, you could end up pushing body panels out, and bowing the sheetmetal. the minimum doesn't real expand once its done its initial expand. it does a little, but not enough to hurt anything. it may be kind of tricky because you obviously have to make sure it doesn't get in the way of any motors/window track

i have a moonroof and never noticed any vibration in that, even when i had a decently powered 12 in a ported box.

i know we took the headliner down in my brothers expedition and it was pretty easy to do, there not glued up there like old days. we brown breaded (brand of deadener) his whole truck.

Thanks, I will take a look at it in the morning. I didn't reaize that it wasn't glued. It sounds as though there is plastic around some of the parts or between the liner. It may be the problem.

I have it the same as the 2 above. You guys may want to check out that one guys Hot-To on recarpeting the headliner for pics.

Mikegett, if you do this please take some pictures for us.

THanks,.

I think it may require removing part of the liner to get it taken care of entirely. I pulled the liner down partialy and used a miror to see what was rattling. The wire for the rear view mirror is taped down. Unfortunately, the tap has lost its hold and they rattle around. I took some double sided tape and squeezed inbetween the wire and liner. It is holding it down for the time being, but I don't know how it will last.

Did that fix it?

Weird, I have two 12's and I hit a 146db in the dash (pretty loud for our cars and my watts) and i dont experience any rattle from the sunroof. Only when it is just vented open, when it shut everything is quiet, or all the way open its quiet. I have absolutely no rattles in my car right now, I did the front and rear doors last week and they are solid as hell, along with my trunk lid and deck lid....thats where I got my of my rattle. Oh and not ot mention that horrible piece on the trunk that has lights in it, had to take it off and hushmat behind it.

My moonroof isn't what rattles. It is the liner around the moonroof. Securing the wires seemed to help out but not eliminate it.
