some lifters are bent and i'm pretty sure I wore out some lower end parts. I'm not going the rebuild route. I'm just buying another motor.

I've been wanting to go to Michigan for the past 3 years. If I can save up cash by May, I might do it, but won't be taking the Cutty since it's still gutted. SMH

Yeah, I don't believe you were there that year either. I know I would've remembered seeing your car if you were lol. I even went back and looked at the pics I took just to double check and I didn't see your car in any of them. I know I met a couple of members there who aren't too active on the forum anymore. Like Motorcity, Malibu, zOL, and Papasmurf. Plus I got to meet Scot, Andy, Kenny, Cliff, Matt, Ion, strtrydr, NoSweat, and a few others that year. Hey nothing wrong with just hanging out and having a good time and this is true, it's always nice to take a vacation. |
Yup! Andy, ken, scot, and them are all cool guys! Andys an oldfart!
I should probably watch my tone around here or ill get my sig messed with again by him.... He's secretly watching my every post.... And my car SHOULD be there this year, i can get everything done before the show for sure, the only thing is getting the MMS headers in time.... Basically the headers will be the final touch before i can even start the car at this point... |

Yep that they are and I hope to see your car there this year. You've always had one of my favorite Alero's on the forum so it would be cool to finally get to see it in person lol. |

Just for this post right here, i now must have the car ready to make the trip up! Its only a few months away i gotta get a move on! Still need so many things... - transmission - clutch - resurfaced flywheel - fuel pump - headers - maybe a new rack and pinion if i feel like replacing it. - install everything - alternator - possible battery - all new fluids So much to do, so much money to spend! Sigh... |
I'll take your list over mine Nate!
|
Haha i still got a few grand to dump in the car before its fully ready...

Heck yeah man! That's what I like to hear! In all honesty though, you don't have to get it done by then just to satisfy me wanting to see it in person lol. Obviously if you do that would be cool with me, but that is quite the list you've got going to get accomplished before then. So I would completely understand if the car wasn't ready by then dude and despite the money you'll have to spend to get her fixed, you know it will all be worth it when you're finished. |
Hey, i want it there as much as you would like to see it!
I like when others appreciate the effort i put into this car, if people want to see it, ill show it. Im very happy with my car and what ive got into it. In all honesty, the money she needs to be back together isnt bad. I just hate seeing her in my garage without a motor, and not being able to start the damn thing, its very sad. :( lol All cash i can spare is now going into the black car so she can get back on her feet. I would be much closer to being finished if i didnt buy my daily Alero, ive got around 1250$ in the daily i bought (buying price, plates, insurance, parts to fix, and alignments) if i didnt get that, i would be closer to having the black car ready. But, the black car was my only car, so with it down, i finally had to get a daily. Which im happy with because i dont like the black car in rain or snow, shes a nice day car. The daily can soak up all the water and salt it wants! I dont mind lol But yeah, ill be getting a transmission ordered next friday. And hopefully headers will be ordered from Milzy as well. Then ill order a clutch, then decide what next. My garage is unheated, so if its to cold out, i cant work on the black car. So im hoping soon, the weather will get a little better here once i have the parts lying around for the motor to go back in, and then ill go from there. |

At least you're protected from the elements! Try working on your project in a parking lot. That gets old really quickly. |
Oh yeah, id hate that haha.

This. That's the way it should be man and that's what makes us car guys. I know it's a great feeling when random people come up to me on the street and compliment me for having a nice car or tell me they like my car. To me it means that I've accomplished something and that all my hard work has paid off. As far as appreciating the effort you've put into your car, no problem man! You've done a lot of great things with your car and in my book you not only deserve it, but you have definitely earned it. Quote:

Now I don't really mind the rain so much, but I do mind the snow and salt like I had to drive in last night. Keep in mind too this car isn't really meant for winter driving conditions so it did slide around a little bit lol. Today I just decided to leave it parked and stay indoors cause I don't want to risk losing it out there with the roads the way they are. All in all though $1250 was not a bad price to pay to have a 2nd Alero and new DD. I think I've told you that before lol, but still. Quote:
Yeah, that sucks man. I'm hoping the weather gets nice soon too so that I can cruise around with the top down. |
I was the same way after the 6 speed swap, will be again after winter and car is driveable again. Need parts, then decent weather to do the work, and ill be set!
