It's just an expression. I don't smoke either.
But I know what jobs I can do and what's over my head.......changing the front swaybar involves dropping the front subframe, and that is over my head.

im 100% agreement with the above statement. that is all. :usa:

xXManwhoreXx 12-06-2011 08:49 PM

I looked under my car last night the rear wont be "to" bad the front would suck

03glgold 12-06-2011 08:54 PM

there are very few mechanics that i would allow to touch my vehicle...the last time i had a vehicle in the shop it was to put a new clutch in my truck and it took them three times to do it right

tw0123 12-06-2011 10:31 PM

Lol I have everything I need to get mine done... A case of beer, and a mechanic that lives next door... the beer is the bribe, after a couple he just starts working lol...

Shiwnath 12-07-2011 08:10 AM

If the front is too much of a PITA, then I'll probably install the rear myself and get the front done when I get my H&Rs on.

adrian13 12-07-2011 11:36 PM

You mean if the front is too much of a PUTA... and it really is.

I know what he meant. I think he thought I meant to say Puta, because he may not have known about the acronym PITA lol.

Email from Brian @ PFYC today:

Matt, we've got the information and are still evaluating what to do with it.

If we do decide to take a shot at doing another run, we would end up needing a 50% deposit on at least 20 bars (or sets - we could do front only, rear only, or both but it would have to be 20 of each bar) to get it going. Do you think this is even a possibility from what you've seen?

I'll let you know when I know more.

And my response:

Brian:

I'm fairly confident that we could get together orders for 20 rear bars; especially if we advertise on other message boards. 20 front bars may be a bit of a stretch, but we'll see.
On the Alero message board alone, we have nearly a dozen people who would want in. Some have even suggested buying multiple bars to ensure that we meet a minimum order requirement, so there is a degree of committment here.

so 20 sets or 20 of each bar... i think we can hit the 20 mark if we get this on the GA forum, malibu forum....LETS DO THIS PEOPLE!!!! COME ON! Its been TOO LONG since we've had a group buy

MMGT1 12-08-2011 09:27 PM

I hope you guys can pull this off. Bars are a sweet upgrade, and I agree, installing them is no fun at all. Having to remove the torque mount at the back of the enging is a dam mess. Then, if you have headers, you are really up shits creek as you will have to remove the rear one to gain access to the bolt that goes through the torque mount. I spent 3 seventeen hour days installing full suspension kits on both my 2000 and my 99.... never again.... lol
Here is a pic taken close to the end of day two.... Im on the left, my brother-in-law on the right. Don't we look happy? Im working at taking the stub shaft apart in this one

tw0123 12-08-2011 09:55 PM

Matt, thank you so much for spearheading this... I truly hope we can get enough people together for this buy, and I really hope that we can get 20 commited for at least one type of bar this round... If we can get one group buy to work now, maybe next winter we could work on another one to get the other bar done if it does not work this time around...

jabartram 12-08-2011 10:46 PM

im in for a front bar if this can get going.

03Sleepr 12-08-2011 11:02 PM

If we can get some prices I might be able to swing two sets

About $800

Greg its alot easier with the trans out !! Is the motor out too. If so its so much easier.

Shiwnath 12-09-2011 08:43 AM

Just made a post on www.grandamgt.com.

here a thread on 60v6, I know there isn't a lot of N-body support here but I figured it couldn't hurt. Maybe someone can pass this on to a Malibu forum?

I will join for a front and rear bar. Leaving a deposit with PFYC is no problem, I have bought items from him before and he is a good seller.

so far after Shiwnath posted over there, these members are interested.
GAGT members:
Cyclone GA (front & rear)
HOYS (rear)
eckoxl (front & rear)
young gun (front & rear, after christmas)
2000 GT Coupe (front & rear, if can pay in Feb)
locoman99 (front & rear)
dcuballa (front & rear, leaving for USMC basic in March, need before then)
blackhart7 (front & rear, in on previous buy had already paid)
Nick-G (front & rear)

That gives us a tentative 19 rear and 20 front just including these 2 sites... with the possibility of 60*V6 and Malibu united joining, plus Billy and Unchained willing to buy multiple sets, that would push us over the required 20 for each bar, if PFYC can get their supplier to make the bars for us...
I THINK WE CAN FINALLY GET THEM DONE!!!! good job guys, let's keep at it and see what happens!!:awesome:

tw0123 12-12-2011 11:12 PM

I have updated the list, now we have to wait to see what will happen over at PFYC. Matt, hopefully we will know more soon to get this rolling... with Nick being added, that brings us to 19 rear and 20 front, still with 2 members willing to buy multiple sets...
Thanks for the support everyone, hopefully we can see this materialize this time...

Mike The Canadian 12-12-2011 11:53 PM

I may be able to throw in for a rear as well!

colonel6632 12-13-2011 12:13 AM

i need to know prices before i can guarantee. but i would like a front and back

Papa Rad17 12-13-2011 05:40 AM

I talked to my buddy about it today, depending on price he might want a set. He'd have to know first. I'm still in though

mfuller 12-13-2011 08:21 AM

I sent a status email to Brian @ PFYC this morning:

Good morning Brian:

As with wildfire, the word that we are trying to get a run of anti-roll bars produced is spreading. Now that we have shared the potential with a few other message boards, we are looking at 19-20 front in addition to 19-20 rear bars, not counting members who have suggested they would buy multiple sets if needed. So I think we might be good on meeting the manufacturer's quantity request.
Kindly let me know if there's anything I can do to help.

Matt

Thanks for going through the trouble of doing this for us Matt.. It's very much appreciated.

billytheman1188 12-13-2011 01:35 PM

Nice! Now when we get a final count....if me and the other guy dont have to buy two sets then let us know. Money is tight right now....i CAN swing it....but if i dont have to i dont want to. Things are looking good though! SOOOOOO excited to get these on......NOT excited about all the work involved to get them on....but w/e. lol

Papa Rad17 12-13-2011 02:39 PM

This is gonna be legit

tw0123 12-13-2011 08:41 PM

lol who could ask for a better christmas present?? lol...
hopefully if we can get numbers up higher, they might be able to cut us a better deal (if possible) and that could guarantee a few more people to jump in...

those people have had about 2 weeks now to start saving....if they cant then its their loss. Were lucky to even get this buy to 20 people....there are NO guarantees until we get 20 DEFINITE people....and by definite i mean MONEY IN....cause i've seen many group buys fall through....but hopefully this time we get it done.

Will these come with polyurethane bushings? I'm guessing yes.....but jw

Shiwnath 12-13-2011 09:35 PM

I posted on GAOC to get more people in on this.. So far 2 people say they're in.

I was wondering the same thing... I read the with the originals that some people were buying them separately... I hope they are included...

I believe that polyurethane mid-point bushings were included for the front and rear, but to be reused with the stock brackets, so people were buying new brackets separately. Endlinks were not included.
