After all the talk of huge plans and such, now he's just going to sell his car and give up.

If I can sell it I would honestly rather put the money I would spend fixing it up into a newer car.

Redog 02-12-2012 12:18 AM

Or you COULD go to a local junkyard and pull parts yourself, but that's probably too hard :rolleyes2:

[ion] C2 02-12-2012 12:32 AM

It sounds like he alreeady has the stock bumpers on again. I don't see what he needs to fix on it. Just clean up the details and don't think you have to waste your money on anything extra between now and ASS.

sleepyalero 02-12-2012 01:38 AM

yeah i think getting rid of it isnt really worth it. one little accident and your done with it? yeah you lost some money but the car is easily repairable. i would stick with it.

Redog 02-12-2012 01:49 AM

Really!

I wouldn't care if my car was 5 different colors. A little accident like that, totally repairable, and your ready to ditch it.

Piss poor excuse in my book, but then again, I love my cars and don't have a ton of money

billytheman1188 02-12-2012 04:41 AM

SMH.....what a shame. I'm still driving around with my front bumper smashed....need to get a new bumper cover, driver side fog, driver side front half of the wheel liner. Thats just 1 of Ruby's flaws... Dings along the top half of the door (where its curved)....a lot of them on the passenger side of the car....some on the driver side too....this is from when my mom had it and she used to park under a bridge....i think pebbles would come down...or people hitting it with their door but i doubt that...idk...

I also have clear coat peeling on my passenger side fender/front door....due to half assed body work (i didnt do it!!! seriously...lol).

Also the engine has 150k on it and i'm gonna be dropping in the 3500 when shes done.

You're gonna give up after 1 little accident. Fix the car up and drive it like that. That body kit you had on was rice anyways.....its better that its all smashed up :P But at the end of the day its your decision....go buy a honda....you seem like the kinda guy who would really dig that! yeaaaaa....VTEC!!!!!:awesome:

JLw7123 02-12-2012 11:23 AM

Well i agree that the bodykit was rice. But you just do not give up on a car that you had big plans for it. keep the stock bumpers lower it and get some rims.

Papa Rad17 02-12-2012 12:29 PM

Don't get me wrong I still like the car and I'm not goin to let it go for super cheap so if it doesn't sell i'll go though with my rebuild plans and make it what I really want. But right now iv been busy a lot and wouldn't mind a car with a bit better gas milage and a few less miles on it

If you really want to build it hold onto it and work on gathering up parts... you don't have to do everything right away

I dont get nearly that. and yes, I get everything all of you are saying. yes in know my alero doesnt need that much work. its just my personal preference that I wouldnt mind something different. if I wanted a comment string about how I should do what everyone else on the internet thinks I would have asked.

I almost bought a Cobalt before deciding to do stuff to this car, so I understand where you are.

well what you want rwd would be pointless could not drive it in winter unless you buy studded snow tire. you want good gas mileage so a v8 is out of the question how about a Subaru WRX or impreza rs 2.5 or legacy GT probably the best sounding 4cyl out there and have the best AWD system out there.

im actually currently looking a 2010 chevy cruze that is on a local lot. my mom has one I would drive it over my alero any day. I fell in love with the car when my mom and I took it for a test drive. even when I have to pull it out the garage I take it around the block sometimes just to get to drive it. I like it just how it sits completely stock and it gets amazing gas millage < the 2 biggest things im looking for in a new car...

[ion] C2 02-12-2012 11:12 PM

I wouldn't drive a Cruze over my Alero.. lol

x2 we have about every gm car at enterprise rent a car and the cruze and aveo are my least favorite. the new impals and manibus are nice, camaros are not bad for suv the terrain and equinox are not bad. look at the newer maximas same engine as the 350z and 370z. i have driven aveos to Mercedes benz c and s class cars. just ask me about a car you are interested in and i can tell you.

the impalas aren't bad... but I sorta feel like we are completely destroying the original topic of this thread...

sleepyalero 02-13-2012 02:35 AM

i beg to differ. iv driven plenty of winters with rwd and no studded snow tires. you just ahve to know how to drive...

yeah, like slowing down severely around every turn, and taking off from a stop extremely slowly.

i like my FWD. i have far less traction issues and way more controllability than my dad's pickup.

a.graham52 02-13-2012 11:07 AM

well they both have there issues but its far from impossible to drive a rwd in the winter. its been done for years.

[ion] C2 02-13-2012 12:21 PM

and there's a shit ton of wrecks, every year. so many people doing 360s into walls and other people. or taking off at a light and sliding sideways into someone.

it's not impossible; it's not preferred.

a.graham52 02-13-2012 12:52 PM

still drivers ability to drive and maintain the vehicle. not the vehicle.

[ion] C2 02-13-2012 01:12 PM

right, the vehicle has NOTHING to do with handling.

After your first comment....yes....i would say you destroyed the original topic. Lets face it...you want the Cruz just for the ability to start/unlock/lock your car from your phone. Yea, it drives AWESOME cause its a BRAND NEW car....give it 3 years when things start breaking down...wont feel so awesome anymore:lol: CVT transmission FTL...you want a car with the CVT get a nice AWD Kizashi....awesome suspension on those cars and their AWD system is NICE.

Oldsman 02-14-2012 02:15 PM
