Haha, I didn't catch that.

Nothing today, just had an interesting note I wanted to mention a month or so ago. I found out my "62mm" RSM throttle body I used to have on the car actually only had a 58mm bore. Was a surprising discovery.

xXManwhoreXx 05-26-2013 01:48 PM

62mm od lol

Why? Just wondering

sleepyalero 05-26-2013 09:17 PM

because Diesel.

just kidding, that would do some serious damage to these motors. i put 5w-30 in. :)

just seein who would call me out on it.

mfuller 05-26-2013 09:29 PM

I'm supposed to run Valvoline VR1 20W-50 in my new motor. Thick stuff.

If the logic behind that is to supress detonation because the thick oil absorbs more heat, why not use a thinner grade plus a good oil cooler?

AleroB888 05-26-2013 09:48 PM

Bought HP Tuners credits and added my 2004 to the licenced vehicle list.

My guess is the build clearances will be a bit looser with the forged pistons. Also, extra protection for the cam lobes given the PAC 1518 valve springs (which are really stiff - closed seat pressure is 142.5#!).

xXManwhoreXx 05-26-2013 10:20 PM

Most likely for the valves. I can't see you needing to run too high of a ptw ratio only being NA NA.

no it wouldn't
i used to run 15W-50 all the time

sleepyalero 05-27-2013 06:09 PM

may be different for your motor, but from my understanding the oil wouldnt glow fast enough to where it needs to be im guessing. but maybe it could be okay.

anywho, i need to pm you.

  1. Rewired my radio completely and installed an antenna adapter. Finally have a working AM/FM radio since my friend installed it back in 2006. And now that the wiring is done properly the audio quality/power is much better.
  2. Replaced a silicone coupler that had been cut into many times by the A/C pulley. Now out of the way of it.
  3. Removed my fender stripes. I much prefer the clean look.
  4. Ordered a dash cap like Redog has to go over my wrinkled/destroyed dashboard vinyl wrap.
  5. Ordered a new 2-way key fob since mine is beat to hell and 90% of its usefulness doesn't work. It's been broken for a long, long time. Years. I've been fixing all sorts of things that have been lingering for a while as you can see.
