i want to know what people are running for aftermarket brakes, i have a warped rotor so i figured i might as well just upgrade. also some prices and where to get them would help thanks.

i run SR crossdrilled rotors from ebay, and Apex Kevlar pads from ebay.

I got a croaking noise when I brake, I'm gonna get in there sometime soon and lube some parts.

if you want slightly better performance without any warping and a good name get the brembo oem replacement rotors. i had em forever, never any issues. 200 bucks for 4 and they lasted me at least 2 years

still have the rears on actually

I've got 12" Baer Decelarotors, 2-piston front calipers and AutoZone DLG pads.

i'll sell you a front set of cross drilled slotted rotors. they're the same ones that eag182 has. i've had them on for about 3 months.

Cliff's setup seems awfully good, but of course I'm partial to Baer systems.

so where do you find those at thats not a bad price, also what kinda pads do you recomend?

got em at tirerack.com fronts are $49 each, rears are $46 each. so about 200 total

i went with the Satisfied Pro Ceramic pads, ran about 100 bucks total.

Keep in mind, this wont be like a baer setup or any of the cross drilled or slotted, but they are very quiet and comfortable with slightly better performance. more than enough for my style, not like i race or anything. and like i said they've been very durable.

Also, some people recommend the carbon compound for the pads, but with regular vented rotors ceramics are perfect. less dust and quiet. if you were to go with slotted or drilled i'd definitely not suggest ceramic though. just something to keep in mind

im kinda looking for drilled and sloted rotors, im hard on my brakes so i need something that will work for me.

well, im not exactly light on my brakes. point is unless you are doing autocross some of those setups are highly unnecessary

next step up would be the ebay rotors or powerslots

I picked up Baer slotted rotors at autozone for like 250 or so. , i wanted a little more stopping power with bigger wheels and a little more weight...and it works!

Here's the parts you need-

2 Front Caliper brackets for a 98-02 F-Body
2 Front Rotors for a 98-02 F-Body *or* 00-05 Impala / MonteCarlo
2 Front Calipers from a 97-Current Corvette or XLR (possibly GTO would work too)
1 Set of front pads for a 98-02 F-Body

Basically the only thing you need to make sure to do is to use the clip for the Corvette that goes in the caliper, You can use the F-Body ones in the brackets (they come with the brackets).

Alright, since I can't seem to find these caliper brackets anywhere, does anyone know if the caliper brackets from the Impala or Aurora will fit the N-body steering knuckle so that I can at least get a larger diameter brake?

Well I confirmed that the bolt spacing is the same between the N-body (Malibu anyway) and the W-body, for the caliper anchors. It appears however that I will need to drill the knuckle for larger bolts, that the W-body uses. Does the F-body swap require the same drilling?
I'll be upgrading to the W-body front brakes probably on Thursday, which is my next day off, so that I will at least have improved whoa over what I have now. :)

The F-Body brakets re-use the same bolts.

The W-Body caliper and bracket is possible if you want to drill out the holes in your knuckle to 14mm just to use a single piston cast iron caliper.

The F-Body and corvette calipers are not the same. Corvette calipers are more reinforced across the caliper and are less prone to spreading. It's a popular upgrade amongst the F-Body guys. Corvette calipers are normally black anyways.

The caliper brackets can be sourced from the dealer, although at around $70/ea or so. They can come from any 98-02 Camaro or Firebird (V6s and V8s use the same brakes)
