to good to be true

while looking through the j-body classifieds i found this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=200227430017

is there any way to tell if these are the real deal???

TheAftermath 05-30-2008 06:30 PM

The casting numbers are correct so I would think they are the right ones.

[ion] C2 05-30-2008 06:34 PM

they're all over the place for that price. of course it's real. secret cams are posted up on j-body classifieds almost every day for $100

TheAftermath 05-30-2008 07:54 PM

Yeah it's really not that expensive to do the cam swap, and it's pretty beneficial.

2fst4u 05-30-2008 08:57 PM

the problem with the cam swap is the difficulty of installation. all the timing components need to be removed when installing the cams. it can get fishy if you don't know what you're doing, but by all means.....

Vinalero 05-31-2008 01:24 AM

How do you know the right position for the cams when you put the chain back on? I always wondered that. I guess screwing your valves is not something you want to happen...

[ion] C2 05-31-2008 09:58 AM

there's markings and i have an engine overhaul manual that tells you how to do everything if you want it lol

Vtolds 05-31-2008 11:41 AM

Usually you put the motor at top dead center and there should be marks on the cam gears which you line up so they are pointing at each other and it should turn right on. I am just speakign in general for motors I have no idea if the cam sprockets are marked on the 2.4.

Marrko 05-31-2008 12:25 PM

what the cam swap does? gives more hp? i'm rebuilding my blown engine so i'm thinking maybe geting them if it does something :) sorry i'm a noob on engines don't know anything about them :P

meadus101 05-31-2008 12:48 PM

then maybe rebuilding is a bad idea.

Marrko 05-31-2008 01:03 PM

Thelowone 05-31-2008 03:37 PM

it wont be that bad because the timing chain snapped so i'm gonna replace the chain, head, water pump and cams all at the same time.

If you're rebuilding and you're having a Mech do it. Go for the secret cam swap and get it all covered now. Instead of having to pay to have someone go back in and do it later.

Do it man!

when you put your exhaust, you put it on your car and said: "Ok im done" I suppose.

High performance cams are only more aggressive cams.

the cams are a nice swap, i did it to my cavalier and also did the 2.3 throttle also and bump the fuel pressure about 5 psi more to compensate for the low end loss and OMG this thing was crasy fast, S&^% i even got better gas mileage.
this pic was with just the HO throttle and the cams.
