Best struts for H&R springs
 

ive been searching the threads but havent found anything that gets straight to the point...what are the best struts for tha alero. 4 door v6 and buying the H&R drop springs. i want to replace all 4 struts but dont want to pay the 119.99 for the adjustable agx springs since im not gonna be adjusting them. and i just dont want to pay all of that for just one spring...any help is well appreciated..thanks

AGX are about more than just adjustability.. I don't adjust mine... it's about reliability and performance.

When it comes to springs and struts they really is no cheap way.

well yall r really right...and yeah i know that those agx are great..i was told i should get those..i guess the question is what are the next best ones....how are those GR2's????..

theyre stock replacements. theres nothin special about them

if theres nothing special about the gr2s then why is everyone running them. they seem to be the most common choice anyways.

because people think they're upgraded, but in reality, they're of equal quality to OEM

because they are cheap..I'm on GR2s and I wish I had gone with AGX

Monroe Sensa Track. They have a nice little chanel in them that gives you a bit of a ride on the highway, feels nice, then when you take it into a turn the piston of the strut goes past the chanel and tightens up. Great blend if your a daily driver that likes to still have fun... lol I have KYB on one and ST's on the other and the Monroe's are far better IMO

cuz a few years back that was kind of the standard for upgraded suspension.. i have gr2s with eibachs and they look the same as a stock suspension. i wanna say the handled better but i just think thats cuz they were new and i put a STB at the same time, all of that in conjunction was definenlty an upgrade but in hindsight i shoulda saved up for lower springs and AGXs. which is wat ill be working on when i get my car back. AGXs and H&Rs. and maybe the trailing arms from MPR

im looking at these MST now...and yes it is an everyday driver...but can you go into a little more details about wat you were saying about the chanels and it tightening up. oh and do you know how well they perform with h&rs

what kind of springs do you have and how well do they perform together

H&R w STs. The sensa trac has a channel that allows fluid to flow reducing resistance on the poston. But it is only in the top section of the piston. When you go into a corner, the piston travells past the channel where you get full resistance of the piston over fluid. I really like them for all round driving

Best is very subjective, but I never really cared for the valving on the KYB GR2s.....too under-damped for a lowering spring.
You really need to get a strut with tighter valving to match the higher rate of a lowering spring....and currenly the only off-the-shelf damper that fits the bill is the KYB AGX.
If you want something special, Konis or Bilsteins can be had, but be prepared to break out the checkbook.

I have Eibachs. I didn't want to go too low with the roads around here

has anyone tried the Monroe's struts????

If you got konis or blisteins would they have to be custome made struts for the alero.

Believe me, I know.....
I've had 2 sets of Koni dampers that I had custom made over the years.
