do they make an Exhuast......

Does any company make a Quiet exhaust lol. Im tired of the drone. I have an hour long trip to college and back almost everyday and its annoying.

Is there anyway to get a quieter exhaust with little to no drone. I dont want to go back to stock if i dont have to.

jackal2000 01-23-2007 05:40 PM

add a resonator?

SweetNLow 01-23-2007 06:45 PM

im willing to bet you have an 80 series flowmaster?

get back to me and ill clue you in if you do indeed have the 80

Redog 01-23-2007 07:37 PM

^ Brent, you said you have dual 40's do you have a pic on the way that's set up?

Gr1m 01-23-2007 07:59 PM

lemme find alex's pic of his exhaust....... done the same way as mine but way better

whiteliquid 01-23-2007 10:10 PM

No i have a magnaflow cat...a tanabe medallion tip...and idk what kind of resonator. But the drone is killer. Its not so bad driving around town but not listening to it for a constant hour.

How bad is the 40 series flow...(interstate constant sound)

Cliff8928 01-24-2007 01:32 AM

If you want it to be quieter, get a turbo style muffler... (Dynomax Super-Turbo, etc..)

SweetNLow 01-24-2007 02:14 AM

get a flowmaster 40 or dual 40s.......... i know for sure that dual 40's dont drone on the highway..... the only time they drone is at like 25mph but its not annoying to me at that speed.

jon whats a single 40 like on the freeway?

whiteliquid 01-24-2007 09:58 AM

Probably will get the 40 series. How much did it run you for the whole setup. And i'll prolly add another resonator just because.

x3

well more supercharger whine than exhaust cuz i'm always on it.....

jabartram 01-24-2007 10:57 AM

i have an 80 series with headers and a highflow cat that doesnt have a drone problem.

whiteliquid 01-24-2007 11:09 AM

headers for the 3.4 are a little pricey right now though. Maybe later.

Mr_Reed 01-24-2007 11:36 AM

Go with a Turbo Muffler their cheap and not so loud but still when you get on the gas it will be plenty loud

Silentalero 01-24-2007 11:54 AM

im suprised nobody mentioned it.

BORLA its the happy middle between aftermarket growl and stock quietness when driivng normal.

too bad its waaaaay over priced

sound_xtreme 01-24-2007 12:14 PM

my 80 droned, my dual 40s dont

Silentalero 01-24-2007 12:58 PM

eh find a used one....still best soundign exhaust for what you want.

sound_xtreme 01-24-2007 01:04 PM

borla sounds like ass

werd.......

80 drones at speed......... i dont care what anyone says.

dual 40s dont drone and sound deeper at idle then single 80

single 40 abit quiter than dual 40's at idle.. dont know about at speed

alerored04 01-24-2007 03:52 PM

below the super 40's i have a delta 40. Its a little quieter, more expensive. I kinda wish i would have done super 40 rather than delta. Flowmaster is the way to go though. My roomate has dual borlas on his 4.3 v6 silverado. It drones like a bitch. Sounds like ass when he gets on it.

SweetNLow 01-24-2007 04:50 PM

ya delta flow is designed for abit quiter performance

Midgear 01-24-2007 04:59 PM

SweetNLow, you have dual "Super 40's" ? What do those sound like.. I'm looking for more of a muscle car sound rather than that "ricey" kind of noise.. not like a big block V8 with an RV cam kind of sound, but you know.. a smooth mellow rumble vs that swarm of bee's sound

SweetNLow 01-24-2007 06:16 PM

technically i dont think i even have flowmasters but ill have to double check.

i beleive i have knock offs of the 40 series but they are identical.

get these though if you want the 40....... and get 2....... http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1∂=FLO%2D42543&N=700+429 4922710+115&autoview=sku

if you have headers with an 80 it sounds different, i dont care what anybody says.

whiteliquid 01-24-2007 09:10 PM

suggestions on tips....I want some of the double circle ones with another circle on the inside of each. Does that make sense lol.

whiteliquid 01-24-2007 09:14 PM

found the exact ones. Any one have these? Or make a suggestion on another you see there.

-circled in blue-

sound_xtreme 01-24-2007 09:51 PM

i like slant cuts. the one under the circled, and the ones to the right are nice

All 4.3s sound bad for the most part. Just like 3800s.

Haha, that's funny. You don't like the sound of the borla, but you like how it looks...

a v6 silverado is heinous to start with. wtf!

alerored04 01-25-2007 05:05 PM

Yeah we give him shit for it all the time. He bought the truck when he was 15 when he didnt have alot of cash to work with. Its a clean truck, paint is in great shape and he has been talking about a 350 swap into it at some point but hes all talk. It would be pointless to spend that kind of time and money on a 95 anyways.

pawzbear 01-25-2007 05:16 PM

the 350 is amazing. ahhh it got me thru my street racing stage of life quite nicely.

my dad used to have a Vortech 4.3 in a 97 GMC and that thing moved pretty good, you could easily chirp the tires going from first to second

First of all, it's Vortec (no "h" there). And the 4.3 still only has like 190 HP and gets horrible fuel economy. You can make anything chirp on the 1->2 shift if you have enough line pressure and hard enough tires. (my old Volvo could do it)
