Tranny Swap
So how hard would it be to swap a stock tranny in 99 alero with a 4t65e???
|
BlackJack swapped the 4T65-HD, he is the one to speak with.
|
Yes Blackjack can give you more detail.
You would def need different axles because the 4t65's tranny's axles are thicker than the 4t45's. The files will need to be uploaded into your PCM. Tranny mounts would need to be made, and something with the hubs, becuase the 4t45's are smaller. |
Haven't gotten any questions from this one, so I guess it wasn't that important to him
|
sine the thread is open i won't start another, BJ can you tell me what would be included in a tranny swap, and what would be the eaisest for my 99 alero? I wanna get all the stuff and then do it when i get back from Iraq :)
|
oh, and I don't know nothin' about tranny's other than the REAL basic stuff, like how all cars that run have them :P
|
Iraq eh? Looks like we're trading locations. I'm outbound in a few months.
Here's the list of stuff you'll need:

I can't wait till MMS gets the 5 speed conversion... I hate having an automatic... I have had 3 trannys because I try to sport throw it when I race and it tears it up... I think.. offtopic but some kid in the parking lot at school today was trying to burn out and he floored it in reverse then dropped it in drive and floored it hahahaha! it made the worst grinding noise I think I have ever heard a car make. |

That's a RWD tranny, ya goof  |
actually, the 4t60 is a FWD, used in mid-late 90's monte carlo's and luminas, etc.
The article lists a more comprehensive inclusion of what year/models it came in.... 4T60-E

While we're playing the semantics game..... yes the T stands for transverse, but trust me, Fiero's aren't FWD. so, what are we now calling the 4t65 variant for the AWD's such as in the Pontiac Aztek? (real question). |

We're accually doing the 6 speed conversion! We still need a donor car for this to happen! If your interested give me a pm and i'll give you the number! Mike S |

So are you guys dropping the 4t65 conversion off the burner, or just going with what will seem to be more popular for now? |

Lol Do I have to pay for it.... and where are you located? |
Yes you will have to pay for the parts, but not the labor or the tuning.
No we are still doing the 4T65eHD swaps too! Just giving a little variety :) We are located in Dayton,Oh |

Do you actually have a full Garage or is it a home run website? And whats the estamate for Cost of the parts... + is there a warranty? Like if you messed up my car would you fix it out of your pockets? |
No we accually have a full garage. We are working out of a commercial building. The cost of project is $3500, at this time we don't have the full amount on how much the parts will cost. Thats why this price is set to where it is, more than likely the cost will go up afterwards. Here is our warranty information off the website....
