bizarre179 05-04-2008 04:21 PM

Does anyone know why 1999 isnt included in the list. Am I missing something here? I am liking that price.

[ion] C2 05-04-2008 04:32 PM

Odd, Pace is usually far more expensive. They'll probably charge $1000 for shipping.

1999 isn't listed as it depends whether or not you have the bigger starter and low impedance fuel injectors. If so, it's hard to get the supercharger to work.

Vinalero 05-04-2008 04:40 PM

according to the shipping calculator, it would cost me 100.33$ for shipping and I'm not even in the states, I think its not bad.

[ion] C2 05-04-2008 04:51 PM

that's a great price, do it

Vinalero 05-04-2008 04:59 PM

lol I will, just waiting on my next pay check, which is thursday.

I just hope there wont be things like some sort of "extra fees" like I've already seen on some sites.

Like "we are offering the kit for 1500$ + 100 shipping + packaging fees + transport + blablabla"

Anyone ever shop from this store?

01silveralero 05-04-2008 10:55 PM

i put in my zip code and it said $96 for shipping 3-day select with ups.....usps is only ~ $30.

[ion] C2 05-04-2008 11:07 PM

overnight shipping was $20 from CrateEngineDepot for me

Alerosaint 05-13-2008 02:37 PM

Man after reading these forums I think I want to do this s/c setup...my ho have 145k miles on it...from you guys opinion you think my engine will be ok?? If so VISA is gonna be everywhere I want to be

[ion] C2 05-13-2008 02:47 PM

<-- 181,600 mi.. plan to rebuild if you want to push a bunch more power like I intend to, but the supercharger will be fine for you.

Alerosaint 05-13-2008 02:53 PM

Probably as much im gonna push it is drop on a smaller pulley (2.7 i think i read in here) and 62mm tb and then complete the exhaust and that should be it

[ion] C2 05-13-2008 02:57 PM

will be fine

Spilner521 05-13-2008 04:46 PM

It's cheap because GM doesn't make that kit anymore and those are probably the last of what Pace has and they're trying to get rid of them.

'99 isn't included because the '99 ECU can't be relfashed with the GM supercharger program to work with the 2 BAR MAP and 310cc injectors. The kit will fit any 2.4 engine, but only the 2000+ ECU's can be reflashed. For '99's, you're on your own with adding fuel in boost, which actually isn't that hard, especially on that low boost.

Those kits aren't made by GM anyways, they're drop shipped from a vendor. GM DOES make the Ecotec kit, and it IS discontinued.

99-alero 05-14-2008 02:13 AM

where could i find the 2.2L ecotec kit that cheap if its possible?

Cliff8928 05-14-2008 02:40 AM

Unfortunately the ecotec kit costs more. BUT it is a larger supercharger and has a heat exchanger in the manifold.

Alerosaint 05-14-2008 01:01 PM

ok its done...I just ordered the s/c and it should be here in some days...im pretty happy...soon im gonna have the baddest alero in town and there are quite few here...but mines will reign supreme...hahaha :haha:..but if anybody else gonna get on this offer...fyi the price went up 100 bones since last night so i dont know if it gonna go higher or lower so Im just putting that out there

Vinalero 05-14-2008 03:55 PM

Oh snap, 100 bucks more, that sucks. I've return to the point where I debate putting the kit in the car. The fact that I have to put 93 in it, and that we only have 91 around here is bugging me. Also, Petro-Canada do sell 94 octane, but goddamn they ask 6 cent more per liter than the 91.

Yesterday for fun I went to put gas in the car and I've put some 94 in it.
The prices were :

87 : 1,394$/liter --> 5.29$/gallon
91 : 1,454$/liter --> 5.53$/gallon
94 : 1,534$/liter --> 5.82$/gallon

Maybe I should go N/A? but the sound of the S/C is soo nice. Too bad its only a roots supercharger

[ion] C2 05-14-2008 04:14 PM

Boost is the only way to go. N/A is for those who like the feeling of "not enough."

Gas is expensive, oh well. Something everyone has to deal with. Doesn't mean you shouldn't try to have fun still.

Why, what type of supercharger would be better? ...besides that kind that looks like a snail and is exhaust driven...:p

Damn right

Well I would have prefered a twin screw, but I still love the fact that the supercharger kit is almost a bolt on.

[ion] C2 05-14-2008 09:48 PM

I could fab up the new TVS system from Eaton if someone wants to buy me the supercharger.. lol. Four lobes, 160 degree twist... nice.

The MP45 is suited well to what most require. I have no doubts one can run in the high 12s with it (well modded engine, nitrous, meth, radials, etc)

Vinalero 05-15-2008 02:12 PM

does the secret cams works with the supercharge?

[ion] C2 05-15-2008 02:34 PM

yes a lot of people run them with the blower, any bigger cams will help out

OK good, I thought you might have been thinking of a centrifugal as better, and I would have to disagree, especially on a 4 cylinder.

And yes, the secret cams would go well with the supercharger.

spyhunter 05-20-2008 07:48 PM

anybody running the GM S/C kit will not get 12's.........

ya'll bitchin about gas prices... at least you're not spending $6 a gallon for 100octane. :)

[ion] C2 05-20-2008 07:56 PM

I guess I'll have to prove you wrong.. lol.

But I'm fabricating an MP62 FMIC capable manifold and outlet soon so I might not.

Spilner521 05-20-2008 08:21 PM

I respect that you're building up the engine the right way, but I'm going to have to agree with Spy on this one. The M45 simply can't flow enough to make the power to run 12's, running drag slicks or not.

The M62 idea sounds like a good one. I'd like to see how that turns out for you.

[ion] C2 05-20-2008 09:14 PM

It doesn't matter what the MP45 can or can't do, a ton of nitrous and meth and tuning and you can hit it no problem... I don't intend to have "just a supercharger" getting me good times...

Spilner521 05-20-2008 09:42 PM

Mixing all kinds of power adders/chemicals means a greater chance of blowing something up. By all means, if that's what you want to do, go for it.

I'll stick with "just a turbo" and get better times than you :p

so then you wouldn't prove me wrong as you're adding another poweradder to the mix.

The most power you'll get out of that supercharger on the car I would say on the high power side would be 250-270ish... and that's w/ a manual tranny.

Not enough to get you into the 12's.

[ion] C2 05-21-2008 07:25 PM

you said anyone running the GM supercharger kit won't get 12s... i'm still running the GM supercharger kit if I use methanol and nitrous as well... so my post remains valid.

:p

Bad99Olds 05-21-2008 07:46 PM

haha touchet

come on think w/ a level head. By adding another power adder you're suddenly not just running the GM S/C kit.

It doesn't have the oomph to support 12's, or bigger numbers that's required. Besides the moment you start adding bigger injectors and modifying the tune you're technically not running the kit anymore but a hybridized version of it, which in essence means you're not running the GM S/C kit.

Sell the kit, get a GT30, an intercooler that supports 400hp and git 'er done easy.

[ion] C2 05-22-2008 06:29 AM

I don't really have the desire to hit 12s, just 13s, which is pretty easy to do. And I like superchargers.

GA_turbo 05-22-2008 03:34 PM

for those with the 99 2.4 remember there is a sticky about the 99 to a 00 swap on here read up on it and you can install your charger on a 99.

turbochargers are more versatile.

lol, this is for you.

AlbinoMonkeyRat 05-24-2008 11:02 AM

just curious...what kind of ballpark cost would one be looking at for a reflash, if they aren't getting the free one offered by Pace?

[ion] C2 05-24-2008 11:14 AM

the reflash is not free even though it says it's included in the supercharger price. it's whatever the dealership wants to charge you. it cost me $88 to get it.
