I was waiting for someone to ask that exact question.

All thats left as as follows in exact order:

-install crank pulley with new serpentine belt

-buy 2.4L stage two intake to add to 3400 air intake to complete cold air intake, then install

-buy new battery

-drop gas tank remove old gas and have the tank cleaned

-buy 6 qts of synthetic oil and install....run for a bit then drain.

-buy and install new high flow cat and muffler

-paint car

-get rims

billytheman1188 06-06-2008 12:39 PM

soooo exactly how much power do you think your going to put out?

[ion] C2 06-06-2008 12:44 PM

not much more than stock he really didn't do much to upgrade the power as far as i know, just made it capable of handling more power

DOHC_tuner 06-06-2008 01:08 PM

It will run a lot better and faster than stock I can bet you that much.

BUT it was built to handle much more. I plan to boost the hell out of it down the road but first my primary goal is to break it in.

Blender345 06-06-2008 04:12 PM

Let us know how the boost goes.. where are you getting the boost from? Make sure you get a BOV :) lol...

DOHC_tuner 06-06-2008 06:07 PM

well it will be a while but I plan to run a garret

Blender345 06-06-2008 06:09 PM

not that I know what that is but I've seen others talking about garret, must be a cool guy (just kidding). But yeah I just wanna do little things to my car like this intake. Is there anything else that would increase performance without costing more than a couple hundred? I am trying to learn about headers and if they're worth getting.

cherrington17 06-06-2008 06:12 PM

lookin pretty nice dohc. keep us posted.

sounds like you need lots of help...just ask and I'll be happy to help

but your looking to spend a bit over a 100 right?

Blender345 06-06-2008 10:31 PM

bit over 100 for what? headers? I just want my car to have a bit more hp (hence why I bought a wai) plus it was cheap 40 bucks. I mean I am willing to spend a few hundred, but my father doesn't want me going all out because he feels like it can crap out anyday with the 150k miles it has. I know it is my choice in the end and I will base it off of how my car does after I put certain things on it, which I am not to sure of what to do to it yet. But yeah any tips or anything you recommend would be greatly appreciated. I want my car to run mint and I want to hear my baby purr like a.... lion. lol. But I know you guys are pro's (well I consider you guys to be pro's, some of you) and that's why I am asking for tips on little things I can do to work my way up. Like if I buy something such as a header, I want to know how much it is and what it will do (increase hp, mpg, whatever else) like my intake which should be in tomorrow. Can't wait. I appreciate your patience with me also.

whiterider00 06-06-2008 11:57 PM

ive seen headers for around $130, or less some places. not sure on the specs, but itll add some power, anything is an improvement on stock. if you do get header tho, you gotta get the whole exhaust redone, cuz its 2.5" pipe on the header, and stock is 2.25 i believe. theres a place near me thatll do a whole custom exhaust for my car probly around $200, not including header and muffler, so pricewise it isnt too bad. i would suggest a borla muffler (they make universal ones)because on the 2.4 it sounds good, without being loud or sounding like a bee in a coffee can. look up some sound clips for different types of mufflers, thats what made me decide which one to get. good luck with the car, and keep us updated.

It'll be a bit quicker than stock, but if you're expecting it to be a rocket, you're going to be disappointed.

Are you using lower, higher, or stock compression pistons? I forgot exactly what you put in there.

Get it broken in and get it boosted, that's when it'll really push you back in your seat.

nice thing out the older/abused car, is as things break down, you can replace them w/ performance parts... cuz heck, its gotta get replaced anyway. :coolio: but yeah, i'd save the higher end engine work for a new engine.

ofcoarse i didnt expect it to be a rocket....that'll come once I ready to add the boost. this is just preparation time and plus the funds are not there yet for the project so Im just getting ready. Lots of things going on in my life right now but i still find time to work on my car:yahoo:

Im running low comp pistons so yeah a loss there but they arent far low comp compared to stock compression.

spyhunter 06-07-2008 04:17 PM

boost it soon.

DOHC_tuner 06-07-2008 04:25 PM

Oh you dont know how bad I want the shhhhhh coming from the BOV

Depends on the blow off valve...and the turbo makes a high pitch whistle that gets higher as it spools up.

DOHC_tuner 06-08-2008 08:46 PM

your getting me horny:p

[ion] C2 06-08-2008 08:55 PM

my s/c makes a high pitched whistle too along with the whine, sounds pretty sweet. you can hear it real well when i'm approach 0 boost/vacuum

DOHC_tuner 06-13-2008 07:37 PM

well guys I finally got her running. SHES ALIVE!!! Now I just need to get her to a tire shop and get the header welded on with the exhaust pipe to the muffler so it wont be so LOUD. Only issue is there is a bit of a leak where the thermostat sits. Its drips and it pisses me off. I replaced the bolts and the gasket but it still leaks.

I heard a blow off valve the other day that had this sound like one of those whistles that have the spinning thing inside it surprise the crap out of me

DOHC_tuner 06-14-2008 10:57 PM

well I took the car out for a drive today and even got her on the highway but first I stop at the muffler shop to get the header welded on to the exhaust pipe...dam thing was super loud before now its whatever but its for now until I get a real muffler and a hi flow cat.
