Again I said used or new, Car audio classifieds have some good deals, but id get serious input here. I listen rap 90% of the time. and then metal 9%, old 80s pop 1% haha. Looking for something louder than the 2 12" sony explods at 150rms a piece.. |
80's pop! u talking bout stacy q and that stuff

I agree on the you not getting much for 200 to 250 bucks. If I were you, I'd check the local forums. Sometimes people will sell the systems pretty cheap there. I, myself, recently sold a pair of solobarrics in a local forum. But really 250 for an amp, subs, and enclosure is going to be hard to come by.

I should Have said just for subs. Id spend a max of like 150 for subs. I can build my own enclosures. and an amp is like 100 dollars so its all good. I might buy my neighbors 15" L5, with the amp and enclosure. He got it for realllly cheap so I should get it for around 100-150 lool. |
said before, that price won't get you a lot, but it will still be better than sony crap. best bang for buck in that price range would be used. new my sub alone cost $200, not including bigger wiring, and amp, and box building supplies.
ask the neighbor guy about that L5. if you can get it all for that price it wouldn't be bad. truthfully i wouldn't get a L5 for myself, less quality than my L7. |

I got all my wiring installed from my previous system, my friend got his own kit. and yeah Im looking for used I guess. New is too much money IMO |

Nah 4 AWG. some of these beastly Monster RCAs my uncle gave me for free that were like 100 dollars. haha. |
a bigger system or a &^%^& system?
just having subs isn't gonna sound that good. if i were you, i'd invest in some quality front speakers (if you have a strong aftermarket head unit). so i guess that really means i firstly suggest a good quality aftermarket head unit. the stock speakers aren't bad, but i'd upgrade them after you get a new deck. forget about the back speakers, the stocks are totally sufficient. i upgraded mine and regret changing. then i'd get a sub and amp. basic, solid brands are kicker, alpine, jl, pioneer, kenwood. GET A GOOD QUALITY AMP. if it's cheap, it's not worth it. buying used through craigslist and buy n sell will cut costs a lot, but expect to pay upwards of $500 for a solid system that you will keep for years. my recommendation is to buy a good box that is within the manufacturer's specification for the sub, unless you are really experienced at building boxes. ported or sealed matters a lot, both in terms of sound and the box specs. ported box=bigger box, boomier sound. sealed box=smaller box, tighter sound. i dunno how you like your music...some people just like the loudest bass possible and don't care about sound quality; the more shit that shakes and rattles is better... i personally changed a ported 12" kicker cvr for a sealed infinity 12" and now things are tight and crisp. i got a kenwood excelon xxv-01d deck off craigslist for $220 crutchfield had a huge sale on infinity, so i got a 12" sub, 4x6 doors and 6x9 rear for under 350 (shipping is free, even to hawaii). like i said, i regret buying the rear ones cause they don't make a difference. fuhgeddabout it. i installed the speakers myself. i had a kicker 200 watt amp already in the car, which cost under 200, installed. ok, so if you bothered to read this far and just want subs/amp and screw everything else, i'd buy a sealed box for 2 12" kicker cvrs which i can find around here all for under $200 new plus an amp that would push them with around 300 watts each. the amp will be expensive, even used. don't get sony again. |
I have an amp for sale! ..old school badass Rockford fosgate punch power 1000.1bd sub amp. $175 shipped. brand new. Let me know.

Not effing Cool. |
Get 1 Type R for ~$100, and a good amp for it with the other $150. Build your own box for ~$40, and it'll be LOUD, and still pretty clear (well, as best as you can get for a lil under $300). Make sure you give it lots of breathing room.

doesn't matter dark. watch your mouth. :glare: you'll DEFINITELY get warnings for that kinda crap.
for $250, i'd hold off on subs. for what you listen to (80s) doesn't have much bass and metal is mostly mid/tweet with bass background (not like rap where bass is really important) i'd invest in front speaker upgrades and a decent amp. |
Theres a new MTX amp on my local craigslist for $85.
http://www.crutchfield.com/p_236600X...XD.html?tp=115 I could potentially get it and ship it to you. Seems to be a killer deal. I would E Mail my guy Mike and ask him. Were just down in Toledo so shipping shouldnt be bad. Or you can come get it. cargodzracing@yahoo.com Just tell him I sent you and you will get a better deal ;) I got another guy who sells different stuff also, but hes down Cinci way. If you want I could get you his info also. Mike can get a ton of stuff. DC Audio, RE Audio, Fusion (blah), Planet Audio, Almani, US Amps god I dont know just endless brands...lol. |

he said he mostly listens to rap! |
I been looking on craigslist. and I finally found a decent system :)
2 12" P2s Kenwood 800watt amp. Puts out like 480 RMSx1 so Ill bridge them and put 240 into each. they want 250 so thatd be good. and they come with the enclosure. all for 220. Think that is a good deal? and the guy lives like 10 minutes away, so ill have test it before I buy it. |
I would seriously consider contacting my guy Mike first. At least give him a shot. You might be pleasantly surprised. I know Ive gotten a few killer hookups.
Ask him about a certain Elevation Audio PRO he has lurking around... You JUST might get a killer deal on a fricking sweet sub.... ![]() its the red one ;) |
oo. I didnt read your post ryan sorry. Yeah I was looking for some RE audio 12" SEs :) ill hit him up.
My uncle lives in columbus and comes up a lot so he could prob pick them up on his way up. |
Well beware the RE prices are sky high... (At MSRP at least ;) )
And to be honest if your going to get an SE you should spen another $20 and get an SX model. Seriously a single 15" SX with proper power will make your girlfriend very very very happy. Buy from Mike and I will give you a free box design. And trust me, that will truly put a smile on your face when done... And one last thing Kenwood amps suck dog nuts. To be honest what your about to get isnt much better than what you HAD. |

Hahahha. I can get 2 SE 12s for 200 new off ikesound, but I dont want to spend that much. Im gonna listen to the system before I buy it. See if I really want it. Only thing is I only want to spend a max of like 250 for everything.idk. Ill just see if its really worth it. |

I said not cool because of your word choice. |

and hesaid that to cherrington hahaha |
I bought them. Was a nice kid. Hooked them up for me and everything, all i had to do was help him carry them from his car to mine, Wayyyy louder than the sonys I had,
|

Well I guess it's easier for people to get a hold of me now since I'm here LOL And I'm glad to hear you got a good deal, just be careful pushin that Kenwood amp to hard, cause they can get really hot and don't like going below 2 ohms even though they are capable... Just some tips from the old newb ;) |
Quote:
haha Thanks mike. I am running both subs on 2 ohms not bridged so its all good. And it has a fan on it:p. I dont drive long enough to run them enough to overheat it so I think I'm fine. well see tho:rolleyes2: |
I cannot, For the life of me find the hole to push the power wire through.
Everything's covered in and I can't get it all off. I see a little bit of the body and that's it. |
Quote:
its the big gray grommet to the left, and slightly up, from the brake pedal. you basically just force it through the rubber. the downside (on the 3.4) is that the wire comes through behind and under the fusebox. which can be a little bit of a pain to get at. unbend a coathanger and have at it. its that THAT hard. |
Quote:
Tell me about it... Thank god I have a ton of those. I told meadus to use one :p |
Quote:
You can also take a small knife or box cutter to make a little slit in the grommet to make it a lil easier to get through (just be careful not to cut any wires)... Another option that we do here a lot if it's to much of a pain to work with existing grommets (or lack there of) is to drill your own hole (again being cautious of where you drill) and then put your own grommet there (Tip: Use some silicone around the hole before placing the grommet to keep moisture out and not rust around the fresh cut metal) :) |

Do you have any RE Audio 15" SX? My friend is looking for 1 of those, an amp and a Box. how much would that be? Or could you throw a system together for him that would be SPL oriented for around 400-500 dollars. new or used doesnt matter. |
For 400-500 bucks you would definitely want to be looking for used for him for that RE SX 15" plus amp capable of pushing it... Just the sub alone has an MSRP of almost $600 bucks... Sure you may be able to find them cheaper online, but it won't be through an authorized RE dealer... I sent ya a pm for another option he may want to consider if he's dead set on that kinda power ;)
