Let him enjoy it while he is young. He may not have the opportunity or income 10 years from now.

Nate's Alero 03-29-2009 01:23 PM

i need a transmission........lol

01OldsAleroGt 03-29-2009 01:26 PM

www.rockauto.com

how bout you 5 speed or 6 speed swap FTW

AlbinoMonkeyRat 03-29-2009 01:27 PM

you plan on reconfiguring your speedometer? 50 series on 17" wheels is too big. Go with 45's.

yes, the WOT TECH trade ins, the 3500 heads for sale on there, with LS6 springs,

stock 3500 valves, also ported and polished

alerored04 03-29-2009 10:54 PM

Honestly I was not that impressed by the LS6 springs. I would go with the comps that way if you choose to go with a large cam or something down the road you will be set up for it. Are the Scorpion rockers you are talking about the high ratio ones on 60degreev6 that are being made? I will be buying a set of those when they come out. I would avoid the Borla exhaust, you will be throwing away about $500 more than you need to on an exhaust. Go with a custom bent system and spend what you save on something more important. Otherwise it looks like a good build list. Good luck.

yes rhe rockers that are neing developed, and i am going the comp cams one, and a performance n/a camshaft

alerored04 03-30-2009 11:28 AM

Good choices. You have a solid plan just dont expect much from it n/a. I am still a little disappointed in the way mine performs after all the work I have put into it.

WhiteV6 03-30-2009 12:21 PM

Depends on the parts really. If you replaced those DPP heads with 3500 heads, I think you would change your mind.

You think so? I wish I would have known that when I had it apart. How much of a flow difference is there between the two?

kwhauck 03-30-2009 01:59 PM

a lot!! unless you really port the hell out of them, and then I think 3400 is superior again....

alerored04 03-30-2009 02:05 PM

/\ DAMN! Oh well. The alero may be going on the back burner, my finace's car died and we are looking at an 03 Saab 9-3 with a 2.0T. That may be the new fun car and mine a commuter. Who knows.

yours still kicking? i thought it was dead...

http://wot-tech.com/shop/la1-3400-pe...ds/cat_60.html

http://wot-tech.com/shop/all/perform...s/prod_66.html

Those are my flow numbers for stock and my parts. My parts are researched and perfected from years of giving a damn and in NO WAY represent what anyone else does.

3500 heads would simply amaze you i am sure. MPG and HP increase from bone stock 3500 heads and a ported lower would be very noticable and worthy of "daily driver" modification simply for the efficiency increase alone. Velocity is the answer.

Nate's Alero 03-30-2009 08:44 PM

so, anything else i should add? engine comes first

why are there no values for exhaust .550 and .600 on the race/boost 3400 heads....

I blew it up this summer and added the cam and comp springs etc. new engine but the trans is still kicking after 145k hard miles. *knock on wood.

WhiteV6 03-31-2009 03:59 AM

I didn't used to flow past .500. Too many people wanted to know so I started going to .600. I haven't done any boost heads on the exhaust side since then.

darksobsession 03-31-2009 04:17 AM

how did you come up with the codenames?

don't tint the lights! i love cleared corners and the stock tails.

if i were you, i'd skimp on some of that stuff and go ahead and get yoru turbo. but i'm not and actually have no money, so...

kwhauck 03-31-2009 12:37 PM

so when ported to a race/boost scenario, what is the best combination? 3400heads with 3400 LIM, and 3500 UIM?

Bad99Olds 03-31-2009 01:08 PM

you stole my project midnight name, you bastard.

hok666 03-31-2009 02:00 PM

this is a great tread nate glad I decided to look...:thumb:

Nate's Alero 03-31-2009 06:19 PM
