Alright friends, I'm getting a JL 12w7 and a JL 500/1 amp pretty soon. To prepare myself for the upcoming bump, I've started looking for headunits and speakers. I found a really nice Pioneer that gets the job done, so now I'm looking for speakers. What is the size of the speakers already in the alero, and what kind do you think I should get? The headunit is a Pioneer with 50x4 watts 22rms. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

front door 4x6

thanks

crutchfiled.com is where i got all my stuff
any time dude |
Damn bro, thats some serious bump!! I have 2 JL audio W0-10'z and a JL 300/2 amp going in my station wagon hopefully this week, and i cant wait!!
|
yea seriously, that 12w7 may be underpowered by that amp but im not sure......in addition to the speakers he suggested up there i would seriously look into some kind of sound deadining for your trunk........cause that sub is going to pound........kenwoods are good for speakers, infinity, mb quart are all good........
i would look into an amp for the speakers too.....to match the subs potential........maybe something like 70x4 rms or so..... |
do you have your heart set on the w7 i can name a few more sibs at the same cost or alot less that will distroy the w7
http://www.acoustic-visions.com/~acoustic/...dire_tumult_15/ http://www.acoustic-visions.com/~acoustic/...vers/blueprint/ trust me 2 of the av15 will blow your mind and will have a very lo thd. this is what i have in my car in a 2 cube foot sealed box with 1000 wats. |
pioneer premier speakers are really good too...I'm going to get a set when I get some more money coming in
|
right now i have rockford fosgate all the way around. including a 70watt rms x4 amp going to them.
most speakers are going to be underpowered by stock, or even aftermarket headunits. amping will make almost any speaker sound better! |
im not a fan of pioneer speakers, i dont think their quality is as good as others.mb quart has great sound quality, inifinity does too, alpine type r's are really nice......as far as subs im partial to jl audio.......ive had fosgate subs and hated them, my friend has audiobahn i dont like em, other has alpine and they are alright but dont produce the bass note i like.....i have the 10w0's, and for them being the lowest model i blow my friends alpines away in sound quality, and blow the audiobahns as far as bass goes.....and i only spent 150 on the pair to where the spent about 300.....

it all depends on the car amp and buld of the box. if you go sealed you get a little less output and need more power to get the sub to sing also the efency of the sub will also play a part on how much power you need to acheve a sertan volume.
the subs i have mentoned you are paying for the sub and a small markup and not for the name on the sub |
alpine r, audiobahn, jl audio. great if you want to go the baller route, but damn that shiznit is exspensive.
i got 2- 6.5" 70watt rms 2- 6x9" 70watt a 4chan 50wattx4 rms amp a 400watt rmsx1 sub amp and a DVC 500watt rms sub, plus all wiring for like a grand. ull pay a grand for 2 jl audio subs. just depends on what all you need. i get complemented all the time on my sound quality. quality of the isntall matters a lot... |
If your looking to get car audio cheap start scouring the car audio forums on the net. I got both of my JL Audio 12W3V2's for $100 a piece and they were brand new still in the box. And I got my 5 channel 1100 watt DEI amp for $250.

Hey guys. Now I know why I come here for the real questions. You guys rock, thanks for all the help and advice. I do plan to dynamat my car very very soon. I'm not ordering my sub/amp combo til october. i ordered my speakers last night B) .
Infinity KAPPA693.5l 6x9 Infinity KAPPA462.5CFP 4x6 I think I'll kiss the UPS man when they come out of excitment. I've been planning on doing a system for the longest time, and finally I can. Anyway, about all this "too much bump" stuff. Is a 750w sub powered by a 750w amp really too much? Once again, thanks for the help. |

not if your speakers are loud enough...i'm runnin a 800W sub off a 750 watt amp(its underpowered, i know) but it works fine  |

external amp, or just off the deck? that'll tell ya if it'll be loud enough...if just off the deck, what's it pushin?

Finally get my speakers today and the 6x9 cones are gigantic. I hadnt planned on the stock speaker cones to be miniscule in comparison to the new ones. Now I gotta find a way to get em installed cuz they wont go but halfway in. time for some fabrication, but i dont have the tools or the money for some overpriced shop to do it |
what kinda tools should i use to take some more out of the rear deck to make room for the speakers?
|
All you have to do is remove the mounts/clips on the factory mounts for the infinity 6x9 (they sound great) I had the problem of having to splice in 6" of speaker wire for the differant connections. but other than that easy install.
The door on the other hand was a little bit more difficult. I went with PG 5.25" comp so i had to get mounting brackets. The fun part will be removing the factory tweeter and gluing the new one in place, some recommend hot glue, i used crazy glue works great. Best part opening door panel and finding $20 in your new car?!! :D |

Maybe it wasn't a tank, all I know is he brought some stuff back from drill one weekend and said they used it as sound deadening material. We used it in his Beretta with four Audiobahn 12s (one of the top of the line ones) and the best Audiobahn amp at the time, and it did an awesome job. Dynamat, though works well. Jon |
Allright, seeing as I have that exact same speaker combo in my car. I can tell you this much, you are going to have to work on it a bit. I used an air powered cut off wheel to trim up my rear deck for those speakers to fit. It took a lot of time, but it was worth it.
